I am in the process of changing doctors and was wondering if anyone could give me a recomendation of baratric surgeon at UNC Chapel Hill. After trying for a year and was approved by the surgeon in Feb. 2008 to have the surgery and no one willing to get the insurance rolling it is time to move on. I am sick about this and don't want to change but, I feel I have done all I can do. My new year for meeting deductibles and test are all coming due again. Seems this is happening to so many. Sure wished they would get more professional at Duke and live up to their reputation. I am extemely disappoint.

I have heard wonderful things about Dr. T. Farrel at UNC.

I wish you every success.

Thank you soooooooooo much. I called them today and they have me a packet coming today. They certainly do things different. I told her I have been waiting for approval since Feb. 08 and she said they actually get the approval before they book your 1st appointment there. She said it could be 2-4 months for the first appointment. No big deal at least I know something is happening. She said the nurse was excellent there with follow-up on records etc. I am sorry that so much time has pasted and heard nothing from Duke. I hope others have better luck and care in the future.  Thanks again.

My PCP referred me to Dr. Tim Farrell on May 22.  I received my packet on June 6 and mailed it back in on June 10.  I had my psych and dietician appt on June 12 - went very well.  I got a call on June 13 from bariatric nurse - I've got an appt on June 30 with Dr. Kohn to watch a video and have a consultation with him.  From what I understand, the next steps are getting ins. approval, pre-op testing and then surgery.  Everything moved a lot faster than what I was expecting, which is good because once I make my mind up, I'm ready to go!!  Everyone at UNC so far has been extremely nice and helpful.  My PCP had very good things to say about Dr. Farrell so I am looking forward to meeting him. Keep me posted on your journey.  Maybe we'll see each other there!! Joy
