oh no is this a good thing or a bad thing?

typically its a bad thing... I worked at Cigna when they did the same thing and thats when they decided to start the 6 month supervised diet.

I havent heard anything but my guess would be they are going to start some sort of pre-op supervised diet program like Cigna. I could be wrong but they are one of the only major carriers that currently doesnt require this in NC.

Ive not heard anything - good or bad.  

As a BCBS insured, I have seen that information and am also wondering what changes will or might be made to their policy.  However, even though the changes might be bad ones (for us), just remember that it would also be the time when GOOD changes could be made!  That's what  I'm praying for anyway!! The only thing I have read was in a post on one of the message boards here on OH.  A patient of Dr. Bauman in Concord said that he had mentioned to her that he was going to be having a meeting with representatives of BCBS sometime soon.  I'm hoping that means that BCBS is interviewing WLS doctors in preparation for their policy review, and they are going to at least allow the surgeons to have some input.  That could only lead to POSITIVE changes, in my mind.  But for my own satisfaction I, personally,  have every intention of writing a long letter to BCBS sometime before the end of June regarding the policy review.  I figure this is the best chance I will ever have to give them MY two cents on their WLS policy!  It might not do a whit of good, but I'm thinking it will  make me feel a lot better, LOL!!! -Cathy W.

Gosh I hope my approval will go through before the changes are made. My paperwork was sent to them last week. I am going to call to follow-up tomorrow morning. I figure they will take a few extra days since this past weekend was a holiday weekend. Sorry this does sound kind of selfish huh.

Oh man, me too. I've just started the process, I have my dietician appt this thursday, and have my psych eval on the 14th. I'm hoping that I won't have to add on 6 months of preop diet. That would really really really suck.

Interestingly today I got a call from BCBSNC. The caller said I just need to answer a few questions for them to be enrolled in a program they have and then I will have all the requirements for the surgery fulfilled. So I answered the questions and expect to hear back from them in the next few days (maybe Monday or Tuesday?)
