OT ... It looks like we've turned the corner

Well, the past few days have been challenging to say the least, but it looks like we've turned the corner today. Sarah has been such a trooper. I couldn't be more proud of her. The Dr's put her back on an IV infused PCA with morphine to control the pain last night and that seemed to get on top of it. This morning the PCA was discontinued and she was put on Toradal and percocet. While it would be stretching it to say she's been pain free, we can say that her pain has been managed and with that she's been actively working on her PT. She's moving her legs and feet to reduce swelling and make bearing weight and moving easier to do. She's walked the halls three different times today using a walker. She went and sat at the computer in the game room for a little over an hour, and she's been using the continuous passive manipulator (CPM) machine off and on today. Dr. Feldman said that Sarah will be using the CPM when we go to the Ronald McDonald House and when we get back to NC. Tomorrow Sarah will earn to use crutches to navigate stairs so she'll be able to get in and out of the house when we get to Raleigh. We'll work with PT and the Dr's office to determine what else she'll need to learn to do before we go home. Thanks for the well wishes and prayers, they have been much appreciated. Barb and Sarah

That is fantastic to hear Barb!  You got a strong gal there!!  Glad to hear they have her getting up and around.   Make sure you eat well and move around also. Take care and God Bless, Pam

Thanks ... and while I'm not moving around as much as I'd like or maybe in 'ways' I'd like, I am hustling quite a bit. I'm also working on trying to eat as well as possible. There's a good little deli nearby that makes custom salads, sandwiches, soups, etc. So it's not all 'fast food'.

Barb, I am so glad she is progressing.  It hurts are hearts to see our children have to go through such things.  We love them no matter what.  The good thing is children heal faster physically than us adults.  Sometimes it seems so unfair the burddins our babies carry.  We wil continue prayers for fast healing!
