AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH and WHEEEEEWWWWW

I have been on pins and needles about getting my 5-year weight history.  When I called my dr last week and requested this info the secretary that answered the phone first said, "but our office has not been here 5 years!"  I had my records transferred from my previous dr. so they have about 15 years history on me.  I told her this and she proceeded to tell me 'but those records are in the attic'.   FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!!!!   When I just called back to check on the status, she said she had the records and just had to type them up on letterhead.   She started joking about having to go up in the attic to get them and we had a good chuckle about it.  Guess she was just having a bad day when I called last week.   I was really starting to sweat over this thinking I couldn't even get past this first step.  Now I've had a good giggle at myself and have taken my chill pill!  (not a real pill -  lol)  I can't start stressing this early in the game!  (Take deep breaths Donna!!!)   Still struggling with quitting smoking.  Was down to 4 yesterday.  Just took a couple of puffs of my 4th for today then put it out.  I WILL DO THIS!

Glad to hear you are on the road.  One thing I started to do was have the docs send me the records which i then submitted to the surgeon so i knew they had them.   On the smoking, I used Chantix which is like a miracle drug for me.  Took my cravings away after about 3 weeks.   I know some ppl can't take it as they get nauseous or headaches but if you have problems with that, it is worth a short. Good luck on your journey! Pam

Pam, Thank you for the Chantix testimony.  In march my pulmanary/sleep dr prescribed it for me but I had to stop taking it.  Since getting my sleep apnea under control, I've been able to stop taking 3 of the meds I was on that I think were causing major anxiety in combination with the Chantix.  I started taking the .5mg last week and am now taking it 2x/day.  I'll have to get a refill so I can take it long enough to get the full effect but it is helpful to know that it does work - not overnight but if I stick with it I'll be able to quit soon.

Kudos for you for tackling things in steps/stages.   For me it was getting off caffeine and not drinking with meals.  I knew I wanted to conquer both of these battles before my surgery to make my recovery from surgery a little bit more easy.  I also had a lot of self doubt of would I be able to not drink with meals.  Then I had a real honest little talk with myself and said this is a rule to follow after this surgery along with many others.  If I can't even do this one thing by itself then I have no business even getting the surgery. Thankfully I conquered both prior to my surgery. I had mine 3-4-08 and I've lost 42 lbs thus far.  I still haven't gone back to caffeine and no drinks with my meals isn't even hard anymore. Good luck with each and every step ahead. Amy

Congratulations, Donna, on your decision to find yourself again.  I was also lost under the smoky haze of cigarettes (as well as the food, etc etc.)  It is so good to finally be able to express self-love enough to get these nasties out of our lives.  It's been a long time since I have had a cigarette but I hope I never forget how enslaved I was by them and how hard it was to get them out of my life!  Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much for sharing your struggle with me.  I've had a hard time with those slave sticks today.  Guess it's partly due to the fact that I've not slept well the past couple of nights at my daughter's.

Hi Donna,

Congratulations on getting over a major hurdle and doing so with a smile. I can only imagine how hard it must be to get off of cigarettes. Just keep taking each thing 1 moment at a time.

Wishing you continued success in all you do,

Barb
