Kidney Stones!!! OMG!!!

I woke this morning hurting and the pain got progressively worse. It was as bad as labor and delivery.

My DH was a sweetheart and wisked me off to our local hospital and gave me some Incontin for the trip to hospital. At the hospital they were GREAT! They got me in right away, started an IV and gave me some good drugs that helped to manage the pain before they took me in for a CT scan that showed that I had Kidney stones. They are small enough that they should be able to pass on their own, so I have some good pain meds for home ... that's why I can even think about writing this note.

I was really concerned when the pain started this morning. I was afraid it might be a blockage or kidney stones ... I'm glad it was the later, because I didn't want another surgery.

Thank God for pain meds and caring medical staff! I am so very grateful for both. I'm also grateful that my body waited until I was home before this attack took place. I can't imagine my 13 yr old being burdened with having to take care of me if this had happened while we were in NYC ... I'm sure she would have done a great job, but I would'nt want her put in that position.

I have an appointment with a Urologist tomorrow morning ... hopefully, all of this will pass 'gently.'

Annie,

Thanks for your sweet note. While it is painful, I'm so very grateful for the pain meds. I let the time between lapse a little too long and I'm paying the price now, but I'm sure it will all be better soon.

I agree that I have a wonderful man to care for me ... My mom has been great too.

I love you too dear!

Oh dear! I have twice gone through this and I know how awful it is! I also know how great it feels when the demerol hits the system and the pain stops. I hope you are able to pass them soon and get on with it.

Hi Anne,

Thanks for the commiseration. I have toradal and something else for the pain. Then I have something for the nausea and something to help the stone pass. I'm hoping it all goes well soon.

Thanks again,

Barb

P.S. If you handled this, your WLS will probably be a cake-walk!

Hey Barb! I am so sorry you are in pain. I hope that the meds work fast and good. I have never had kidney stones but I have watched my husband go thru them twice. Altho men are bigger babies I am sure it hurts tremendously. I will be praying for them to pass quickly and as painlessly as possible.  Get Well Soon Melissa

I am so sorry to hear about your kidney stones but grateful they waited until you got home where hubby can help take care of you.  While i have never had them, my husband has had them 4 or 5 times since we moved south 15 years ago.    One thing they stressed with him is to drink lots and lots of water to help flush them out.  One doc even told him to drink beer! Take care and hope you are feeling better soon! Pam

Hi Pam,

I'll stick with the water since beer is carbonated and I don't do as well with carbonated stuff anymore.

Thanks for the well wishes.
