question concerning the actual lap band

is it possible to be allergic to the materials in the lap band? i never thought about this. what is the lap band made of besides silicone? i have an allergy to latex.  cal me dumb,but are latex & silicone similiar ? yup im confused

Im clueless if latex and silicone similiar.  But one of the  risks of lap band is being allergic to the material.    I myself am allergic to just about everything including 99 percent of soaps.  I wasn't going to take the chance.  Good Luck on your research!

Melissa, There is a chance that you can be allergic to the material in the band.  I forget the percentage, but it is very small.  They talked about the potential for this in the seminar.  I would ask about it specifically when you go.  There may be a test they can do before hand to see if you're allergic.  Let us know what they say.
