Has anyone had gastric bypass at UNC hospital?

I am thinking about going through UNC.  Can anyone give me any information regarding their program.  I am getting something by mail from them but though it would be helpful to get some other opinions.  Thank you.

Does UNC have more than one surgeon?

I had surgery at UNC almost 5 months ago.  I LOVE Dr. Farrell and his staff.  Yes they have other surgeons, but I'm sure you would be very pleased with him.  Just a hint though, although the care is great the admissions and registration people do not have their stuff together.  Registration told me they would take care of the admission.  After I got my vena cava filter they stuffed me into a waiting room in my surgical gown and cap as no one seemed to know I was there.  My husband went down to admissions and they had no clue I was there for surgery.  A 9:30 a.m. surgery did not take place until 8:30 that night!!!  Thank God someone recognized me and got me over to surgery or we don't know how long, or even if, it would have taken. I don't remember any of this due to good drugs and wasn't told until weeks later as my hubby thought I knew.  Had I known then, I would have killed someone right then and there.  Make sure whomever takes you on surgery day goes to registration then straight down to admissions. WOW how do you forget someone is having surgery????  I am so glad they finally knew who you were and got you down to where you needed to go.  Thanks for the information.  How long did it take for you to have surgery from when you started the process?
