consultation
Met with Dr. MacDonald this morning - weighing in at a fluffy 298 lbs. We reviewed my chart and they were faxing everything to CIGNA. Oh GEEEEEEEEEE I'm so frigin nervous. I've decided this part is not like waiting for Christmas when your little- it's like waiting to get your drivers license casue it only happens once. The insurance coordinator said it would probably take between 2 weeks and 60 days to get the go ahead from insurance.
My Mom knows that I love the iced coffee from Mickey D's - so on the drive to Greenville this morning she offered to stop and get me one at every Mickey D's we passed. She knew I was about to stress out but I told her no that they make me super hyper. By the time Dr. Mac made it into the exam room I was sitting Indian style on the exam table. By the time we made it into the insurance coordinators office I was about to make the energizer bunny look like he was in a coma. I don't know if there would have been a doctor's office still standing had I drank the coffee. I swear I've yet to settle down today. I can't believe that I'm really this close to the rest/best of my life.
So I don't have a surgery date yet - we wait for the phone to ring....................I fel like I'm trapped in an Alfred Hitch**** movie.......................Have I mentioned that I'm not a patient person.................I think I'm going to find out that I probably have ADHD but because of the ton of extra weight I've posed as a couch potato all these years.
Mindy - How was your appointment with him this afternoon?????

So glad to hear that it went well. I hope he didn't make you wait too long. I forgot you have a different insurance. I know waiting is so hard-- I'm not a patient person myself, but I'm sure you'll hear from them soon. You may be having surgery in the next month or so!!! I'm so happy for you!
My appointment went well, when I FINALLY saw him. I'll posting a bit... Let us know the second you get the call with a date!!!

It's a BOY!
Iris,
Your note could almost have been mine in the beginning! At my consultation, I weighed 297 lb, and I also had to wait on Cigna insurance approval. It felt like it took forever ... and I had to fight a bit for approval (2 different insurance companies, the final one being Cigna ... and a couple of appeals, but I finally won!). The waiting is the hardest part, but keep on coming here and posting and you'll find that you're not alone and we're all rooting for you right alongside you!
Best wishes on a speedy approval process!

Iris,
I am glad to hear things went well. I also struggled with patience while waiting for approval. Just try to stay busy and you'll have your answer in no time.
By the way, I've never had surgery before or any major medical issues, so I didn't know I was going to have to pay a deposit ($500) to the hospital before they will give me a surgery date and pay the surgeon the difference between the actual cost and what my insurance covers before he'll do the surgery. Just thought I'd pass that along in case you didn't know.
Keep us updated!
