Hello to all:   I wanted to update everyone. Okay so yesterday I was 1 week post-op. {I love saying that Post-Op, ha ha} OK. I have lost 13 lbs, I am soo excited. I never knew that i would actually feel this good. I am on the liquid, and this has actually motivated me. I am walking and sipping like I should. The protein is going down, and I am getting my proper intakes, but it tastes pretty bad. Any Suggestions? I go see Dr Nazari Friday, and I am hoping that he will move me to the soft foods stage. I am not all that hungry, i just want something with some texture, and something that has a good taste. I will update as soon as I get back from the Dr Friday, as I will be taking any suggestions for the soft foods stage. Thank you guys, you are the best!!! Danielle

((( congrats, Danielle! ))) A baker's dozen.  w00t! Liquids-only stage is tough to get through, and everyone has his/her own security blanket to clutch onto during that time.  For me, it was the Bariatric Protein Sampler Kit I purchased from http://www.bariatriceating.com/ulprtapa.html.  Without the variety of protein and the pretty colors of all the packages and bottles and whatnot, I would have gone plumb crazy. I swear by IDS New Whey Liquid Protein Bullets poured into 32 oz of Crystal Light Raspberry Lemonade.  I'm sipping some now while I'm at the computer, by the way!  One vial is 42g of protein.  I just scored 96 more vials of Blue Razzberry from my "dealer" on eBay.  Ha.   If I live to be 100000 years old, I will never forget how good my first post-op scrambled egg tasted.  It won't be long now and you'll be creating lasting textured-food memories of your own!

Hey Danielle: I was on 2 week pre-op liquid and then 11 days after surgery.   By that time i was not hungry but just wanted something to bite into.  My very first food was a scrambled egg just like Kim....when i was craving it before I was allowed to eat it, Kim told me hers was creamy, dreamy and steamy!!  lol    I couldn't eat the entire egg.  I also did cottage cheese, sugar free pudding, baby fruit, yogurt, tomato soup, sugar free jello, oatmeal and things of that nature.  Til this day i still do my Carnation Instant Breakfast as it is so easy and I actually enjoy it now.  I also did boiled egg whites so i would get protein but not all the fat (and i don't like boiled yolks anyway). Good luck, Pam

Danielle,

Congratulations and continued success on your journey. As everyone has said, this liquid protien part of the diet is often the hardest part. If you are allowed, you might try the liquid carnation with powdered milk added, which boosts the protien intake. You might also try the GNC American Whey protien mix. It's pretty good and not overly sweet. Great with fresh strawberries.

I look forward to hearing how your appointment on Friday goes.

Keep up the good work kiddo!

Hi Danielle.  Congrats on the weight loss!  It is an amazing feeling to know that it's going away for good.  I saw Dr. MacDonald on Monday for my 2 week follow-up and he moved me to pureed foods.  I don't think I've ever been so glad to have mushed up foods in my life!  I've been going to town on pureed veggies, creamed potatoes, etc.  You'll think you're in heaven when you get to this stage.

Good luck on Friday and keep us posted!! LorieAnne
