HI Mary!! Congrats to starting your new journey!!  Doesn't the weight loss so far, feel GREAT?!  YES I averaged about a pound a day for the first 3 weeks, THEN I hit a lovely stall that lasted for 7 days!! So be prepared for that to come here soon and when it does do not get discouraged it will pass!! After that you may end up losing slightly slower about a pound every other day, BUT everyone IS different and you really never know!! Sounds like you are doing great and hopefully you get to start foods here real soon!!  Have a Great Week!!

Honestly there is no 'typical'... we each are so different its really hard to say. I never lost weight daily my entire journey... in fact the first 2 weeks post-op the scale didnt move one pound!!

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

BA/BL/Arm Lift - 7/2014

Scar revision on arms - 3/2015

HALO laser on arms/neck 9/2016

Hi Mary,

Jennifer is so right, we are all so different. I too lost about a lb a day for the first 10 days. Then NOTHING. Not a single pound. Then I started losing again. I found a site created by a fellow WLS patient. It is called www.thinnerself.com. He had a chart weight and inches button on his site. If you click that you can enter your data and it will compare where you are to others that match your demographics. That really worked for me because I was comparing myself to others who were the same age, starting weight, sex, etc... It gave me an apples to apples comparison vs. an apples to oranges comparison we get when we are talking to someone older, taller, who weighed more or less at surgery. I hope that helps some as you watch your progress.

Congratulations on the pounds lost so far and as Jaime said, take a deep breath when you hit a stall because it will end and the pounds will start coming off again.

Wishing you continued success.

Warmly,

Barb

I also averaged about 1 pound a day for the first bit of time.  However, like everyone else has said, we are all different.  I would be rejoicing with 1 pound a day.. but eventually my weight loss stabilized at about 4-5 pounds a week.   Once you work in more solid and calorie dense foods you will stabilize.  :)  Congratulations
