((((HUGS)))) Alice.....You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.  I am going through the colon cancer battle with my sister right now.  She's still in the hospital recovering from surgery.  I know how hard that alone is to deal with, not to mention your DH and grandmother's illnesses.  May God give you the strength to get through this.

Thanks Lisa!  So sorry to hear about your sister.  Cancer seems to touch almost everyone I know in some way.  My hubby was diagnosed with colorectal cancer about 2 1/2 years ago.  He had to have a colostomy and has had chemo and radiation.  He's had 4 surgeries related to it over that time.  The good news is that Dr. Chapman thinks he got it all but monitors Ronnie very closely.  I know that God will not put more on us than we can handle!

(((((Alice))))),

Sweetheart ... I'm so sorry to hear that you've had such a heroing week. I'm so glad you have the colonscopy and that they'll be able to treat it for you. I'm also glad that you were able to get your husband in during an attack so that it was diagnosed and can be treated. I hope that your grandmother will be able to have her kidney failure managed. You didn't say what stage she's in, but my mother only has one kidney and is in stage 3 failure. With that they are able to manage it fairly well.

I'm keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers ... We are going to need a special prayer line from the NC OH forum this week ... It's really be rough for so many of our NC OH family.

If there is anything we can do, please let us know.

Holding you tight in thought and prayer,

Barb

Thanks Barb!  The doctor, an internist/hospitalist said that if her kidney function does not improve over the weekend, he would have a nephrologist come see her, but at 96 she will not want to go through anything too intensive.  She also has some really bad black sores on one leg/foot.  A dermatologist is supposed to see her tomorrow and I hope he will be able to figure out what the sores are.   She is on hospice care, has a DNR order and I think is just tired and ready to go.  I just don't want to see her in pain and her back has been giving her a lot of pain.  She has had 2 back/neck surgeries and she had fall about 2 months ago that I think has aggrevated her back problems.  I'm going to stay with her again tonight at the hospital.  She really needs someone with her all the time and the nurses at the hospital are just too overworked.  My grandmother is the type that will just lay there and not complain or ask for anything.  She doesn't want to be a burden or any trouble to anyone.  She is a saint.  She kept me in the summers when I was little so my Mom (a single mother) didnt' have to pay for someone to keep me.  We are VERY close.  She and Mom live next door to me and Ronnie so we help them out a lot.

Alice,

I truly understand. My mother lives with me part of the year.

Please do your best to take care of yourself as you are caring for others right now. Get in the all important protien and suppliments, plenty of hydration and be sure to get up and go for walks. I know that when I'm on 'hospital' duty with a family member, I can get lost in caring for them and not take good care of myself.

Hugs,

Barb
