Anyone had surgery in Fayetteville?
Hi to all! Tomorrow I go for my pre-op appt with Dr. Leo Davidson in Fayetteville and we set the date for my surgery. When I last saw him in January he asked me not to gain any weight - well guess what? I'm pretty sure that I have. My knee went "out" and eliminated any serious exercise for the past 6 weeks and I spent 10 days living at WakeMed with my mother in the cardiac unit - so healthy eating was nearly impossible. I'm very afraid to go in a step on the scales! I also have a question about the pre-op liquid diet and Dr. Davidson's patients. No one has mentioned this to me at his practice but I read about it online alot. Has anyone been to Dr. Davidson and had to do the pre-op liquids for weeks? Thanks!
I used Dr. Davidson and had surgery last July. I didn't have to do a total liquid diet. All he said for me was to substitute one meal with a protein shake and then of course right before surgery I had to do the liquid and bowel cleanse. I know he wanted me to work on heathier eating beforehand. I know Dr. Classen had a different diet entirely. When is your surgery date? best of luck and if you have any thing else to ask, feel free to PM me.
Have you been to any of the support meetings at Village?
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
My date if May 6. Dr. Davidson was cool about the weight gain, but wants me to try to lose 10 lbs before the 6th. I'm working hard - but I could chew my own arm right off!
I have some concerns about the amount of vomiting that I should expect. Dr. Davidson says that it doesn't have to be bad at all if I follow instructions, but friends are telling me horror stories about the throwing up. Could you fill me in on your experience?
Thanks!
Hi and thanks so much for replying! I got my date - May 6. I am getting nervous and trying very hard to drop 10 lbs before the big day (to reduce my liver).
Could you tell me a little about the after surgery stuff? I'd like to know if I should expect alot of vomiting. I have a co-worker who had the surgery 8 years ago and she is scaring the living daylights out of me talking about all the throwing up she did for 2 years! Surely, if you are careful and follow instructions this can be eliminated - right?
I sound like such a big baby don't I? (lol)
Thanks so much!
I have only thrown up one time in 7 weeks and I think I had a stomach bug that day. My son was sick, too.
Occassionally I feel nauseous, and can't pinpoint the reason, but that doesn't happen very often. I have not had a headache in 7 weeks, which is cool!
Be prepared to not be hungry and to have to search for something that sounds good enough to eat.
Good luck!
Wow. Thanks so much for replying! I can't imagine having to vomit over and over again for months on end - it would be horrid. I'm so glad to hear that you didn't have that experience. Also, I can't think of anything better than having to search for something that sounds good enough to eat! I can hardly wait!
Thanks again!
