Hi All,  I had my surgery 3/26/08 and have been doing fairly well. Started back to work 4-14-08. Of course I was tired by the end of the day but made it through. I have been getting stronger everyday until this Sunday and I have been dragging ever since especially today. I'm taking all my vitamins, water and supplements doing everything they said. Is it unusual to feel you've taken several steps backward in your recovery? Thanks for your help. Mary

Your situation reminds me alot of what I went through shortly after my surgery.  I felt really well in the days following my surgery.  However, after about 2-3 weeks in, I had several days that I was totally wiped out, especically in the afternoons.  I think it has alot to do with your body "catching up" with you.  It's really a huge adjustment.  I'd say, at this point, not to worry about it.  I was fine after a few days and I haven't had any more problems (knock on wood).   Best of luck!

Thank you for the info. I was just scared something might be wrong. I feel fine other than the fatigue, and I thought it was odd that I suddenly wasn't going forward in the recovery and felt like I was going backward. It's nice to know someone else has expierienced the same thing. Thank you, Mary

Yeah, I think that is normal.  it took me about 3 months to get back to where I felt normal again as far as my energy level goes.  Good luck!

I was the same way and think your first week back to work pooped you out!   I even went to the surgeon and he said it takes time to build your strength back up and the only way to do it is keep pushing.   I get up at 5:30 a.m. so I started to crawl into bed at 8:30 and read for an hour.   I am now 2 months out and doing much better.   Jennifer also told me that anesthesia stays in our system for 6 weeks which can also make you feel exhausted.   Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism which makes you tired and occurs in 20% of peri& post menopausal woman and family doc also said is common with surgery and this diet we are on.   If you don't feel better in a few weeks, you may want to see your PCP to have everything else checked out. Take care, Pam
