Hotdogs

Ok I know hotdogs arent the most nutritious things to eat but when did you eat one/if ever after surgery. I am not looking for  a big hotdog on bun with all the trimmings. I just wondered when it's safe to eat just the dog. Maybe dipped in a little ketchup. Any ideas? Melissa

Oh and can I add raw veggies... a salad would taste good too. I am so tired of canned chicken!

Might be a little early for salad yet.  Doctors vary, some say three months, some six or more.  If you do go that route, please chew carefully.  No one wants the foamies, and leafy greens will cause them if not chewed well.  Good luck experimenting. Take care. Ellen

Thanks for your advice Ellen. What exactly are "foamies"? I see that mentioned alot and am not quite sure what they are. Melissa

Hi Mom! I can tell you from my experience that you'll PROBABLY be able to eat the salad before the hotdog. Hotdogs still make me sick and I am FIVE years out, so does bologna. (Yes, I'm a hard knock kid, I have to try things *maybe TWICE* before I learn lifestyle skills.) Canned chicken can get boring... and you're a newbie too, right? Have you looked up Chef Dave's website? He has some good ideas and lessons on how to cook things properly for bariatric patients. LEAVE THE HOTDOGS ALONE!!

I had to wait 6 months to eat raw veggies per my docs recommendations.  As for the hotdogs.. they are still a no go for me.

Thanks for the input. I think I am just tired of canned chicken as I said and I have 3 boys so for lunch I look for things quick and easy! I am having trouble with that.  Melissa
