Survived the Prep and 2 little WOWs

Just wanted to say I survived the prep for my first colonoscopy.  It actually wasn't as bad as i thought it would be.  The worst part was having to slowly drink the prep solution.  I think if I could have just drank it down quickly it would have been easier.  Anyway, I got it done and the procedure itself was a breeze, cause I slept through it.  The doc removed one polop so I don't have to having another one for 5 years.   I was really wiped out for the rest of the day but feel great this morning. Now for the little WOW!  I was able to wear a regular size hospital type gown and it overlapped very nicely in the back.  It was so nice not to have to ask for one of the Extra Large one!   Oh, and I have now offically lost 81 pounds and have lost 10 years worth of extra weight!   Have a grand weekend everyone!  I know I will.

Glad to hear that all went well Alice! I am so glad you got that polop out so that you don't have problems down the line.  Since I am a high risk for colo-rectal cancer....my dad and paternal uncle both died from it....I got my first colonoscopy at 40 and get the next one this year....woo hoo! Anyhow, it is a breeze except the prep which I am glad to hear wasn't real bad since RNY. I was curious as to whether it would be harder post-op.  Congrats on the wows. I know they will keep coming! They have with me for sure! Take care. Lisa

Lisa, the prep was not as bad as i thought it would be.  I did the Half-Lytely.  I took 2 pills about noon and after the first BM, started drinking the solution.  If I could have chugged it down, it would have been much easier, but having to drink it slowly just kinda drug out the process.  All in all, it really wasn't bad.  The taste was not exactly pleasant; it had a faint lemon/lime flavor but was still pretty salty.  I won't dread the next one now that I've been through it once.  Go ahead and get it done.  Let me know how it goes!

Congrats on making it through. Now one less thing to have to worry over. The prep is just the absolute worse. I had one last year at age 29. Both my father and brother had colon cancer. My brother and ex bf wanted me to get checked out. That prep stuff was just awful. I've never liked liquid medicine. Glad I don't have to go for another one for 10 years.
