Hi Everyone, I am 4 yrs post op and I have just moved back to the area after moving away for 6 yrs.  I do not have a bariatric/WLS doctor here in the Concord/Charlotte area and I was looking at the different doctors here on this website and I can't decide which one to go to.  Does Dr Bauman handle post op patient checkups?  His website just talks about the surgery and nothing about post op care. Thank you, Tammy

HI Tammy! Welcome.  I don't know about post op checkups, but do want to say I think he is an excellent Dr., and his office staff are the best.  Hope you find someone, no matter who, whom you are pleased with. Nancy

Yes, absolutely, Drs. Bauman and Pirrello do accept patients for followup who have had their surgeries elsewhere.  Dr. Bauman is one of the few physicians I know who will actually follow patients who have had their surgeries out of the United States, too.  His office number is 704-786-5700.  They have an excellent program of followup, and their nutritionist program of followup is superb!

Thank you Nancy & Dena for posting!  I think I am going to check with my insurance to see if they cover going to Dr Bauman and if so I would like to make an appt because I have seen a doctor for followup for 2 yrs!  I probably need to go! Thank you, Tammy

HI Tammy! You may have already found a doctor, but if you're still looking at least have your PCP take your labs, an extensive vitamin and nutritional lab work-up, not just the traditional “lab work.”

Dr. David Voellinger accepts the care of patients that have had surgery in other areas and a program for patients that have had surgeries in other countries.  If you haven't found a dr and want your labs drawn you can call SEB and get a lab sheet.

Good luck and welcome back to NC!
