OT: Fire at my school
Ok, so some idiot children started a fire at the school so my daughter, who is a senior, and myself, a teacher there, didn't have to go in today. Anyhow, don't know what gets into children. Luckily the fire was contained and put out quite quickly. Our library will be closed for weeks since it originated there and caused quite a bit of damage. If not actual smoke damage to be sure there was lots of water damage. This is the end of my 21st year and what I see on a daily basis is quite sad. This is the 2nd fire I have experienced. My first couple of years there was an arson fire and I lost every bit of teaching materials I had when a kid set a fire that completely burnt the auditorium to the ground. My office was in there and I lost it all. Anyhow, I am just venting. Kids seem to be running amuck like Rev. Run would say. Going back to school tomorrow and looking forward to June. I love my summers since it gives me much needed time to refresh and rejeuvinate! Not that I don't love what I do but teaching is quite stressful and tiring at times. It is a thankless job and much of it begins at home where the parents are just as bad as their kids sometimes....lol. Anyhow, thanks for listening. Tomorrow will be a new and better day!

Lisa, you're sooooo right, they have no respect or remorse about anything. And don't forget all their "rights". Seems as adults/educators/parents, we are very fastly loosing ground. Relax today and do something nice for yourself to boost your spirits- maybe a girls lunch out??? They'll get them!

You must be a teacher at Southview.
A girl I work with said her son had off today because of the fire. I hope the find the little a-hole.
Lisa,
YIKES! I hope nobody was hurt, the damage is bad enough! I'm a 911 dispatcher so I know what kids can and do on a daily basis also. I agree that much of the teaching begins at home but some of them (I said some) just don't think about what they're doing or the problems they cause and others just don't seem to care... I don't get it because sometimes it doesn't seem to matter how they were raised or what's going to happen when they're caught. We did our "bad" stuff too when I was young (I wasn't a perfect child by far), but the worst was never nearly as bad as things today, I was too afraid of my Dad to do anything too bad. Ok, now you got me venting... lol! I hope the rest of the week is good for you! I'm not looking forward to June, 911 gets busier when the kids are out of school - ugh!
Take care girl!
