I have all my appts. scheduled and I'm just waiting...Do any of you have any experience with BCBS of NC-teachers insurance?  I know they cover the insurance and I meet the BMI requirement for the last 4 years, but I'm not sure about the comorbidities???  I have asthma exacerbated by weight, hypertriglyceridemia, stress incontinence, and GERD. Are they really tough?

I'm a State of NC Employee and my BMI was 47 and I had a few comorbidities.  BCBS approved me within 2 days.  I was thrilled.  This surgery is the best thing I have ever done for my health and emotional wellbeing.  Good luck!

I had BCBS State Employees insurance.  I had to pay my out of pocket which was like 1,700, and then they paid 80%. They approved very quickly.  I had 5 years weight history, a 42 bmi..high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and that was it......they were pretty easy for me.  I hope your journey is as easy as mine was!!  Good luck! I am a teacher in NC as well. My surgery was approved 2 weeks ago. It only took a couple of days. Don't worry, I was scared too..it will go through!

Hi!

I have BCBS for State Teachers.  I do have the highest plan: the 90/10 plan. My information was submitted on the 12th of March and approved by the morning of the 13th.  I did not have a full five years of weight history.  My BMI was like 61 but I actually had no co morbidities according to them, but they still approved me, and when I talked to them about it, they were really nice and supportive.  They even called me to wish me luck on my journey.  My out of pocket maximum was $1000 which I had already pretty much met.  They were great, and I have no complaints!

I noticed that you went through the same office I'm about to go through.  I have Dr. Parrillo though.  Are they nice at the office? My appt. is tomorrow.   Would you mind if I added you as a friend?

Sure!!!  I do not mind at all if you add me as a friend.     Carolina Weight loss Surgery is awesome!  Everyone in the office has been so nice and helpful to me.  I have met Dr. Pirrello as well, and I was very impressed with him.  I think you will really be happy there!

If there is anything I can do, do not hesitate to ask!                                                                     JamieLynn

I agree with you.  Carolina Weight Loss Surgery is wonderful.  Everyone has been wonderful.  They are also very informational.  It is worth the 4.5 hour drive!
