I'm Back and Surgery Was Monday 3/31

I left the board after having my first surgery date cancelled in January, 5 days before surgery.  But Wendy, my DH and my friends pulled me through it.  Then on 3/13 I got a new date of 3/31.  Then another blip on 3/27 indicating I wasn't approved for RNY but instead Lapband made me go nuts but the problem was fixed within hours.  Then I didn't breath until this past Monday thinking if I did something else would happen.  But I had surgery.  Went in at 9:00 on Monday, surgery at 11:15.  Then discharged at 5:30 pm the next day, Tuesday, 4/1.  Everything went fine.  Now I'm on the other side and I am tired on the clear liquid diet already.  I was on it a week before surgery too.  So I have to hold out until 4/25 to return to the doc to see if I can go on the next food.  I don't think I'll make it - if I could just have a scrambled egg or something.  How'd you all do it? I didn't.   Every doc is so diff.   I had Carnation Instant Breakfast shakes 2 weeks before and then 10 days after.    I know there are alot that have had the clear whi*****l. soup broth, popsicles, water, etc.    Just think how much more wt you are losing on that tho.    My heart goes out to you ...but this too shall pass.    Take care and hang in there!   Pam

Terri,

Congratulations and welcome to the Loser's Bench!!! I know that this first few weeks can be daunting, but you can do it. Just one foot in front of the other. Remember that while it seems like a long time, it will soon be over and you'll be introducing new foods soon. In the meantime get scrapping whenever you think you can't stand it. Be sure to drink as much as possible. It helps you to stay hydrated and helps with hunger. Also be sure to walk as much as you can ... it will help insulate you from embolisms that can occur after any surgery as well as get you started exercising ... Exercise will be your friend from here on out. Sooooo.... sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk.

Terri,  Congrats on making it through all of the struggles and welcome to the loser's bench!  I know the clear liquids get frustrating, but remember that your Dr prescribes a diet for you specifically based on how he did your surgery and what will help you heal the best.  It's all for a reason. Barb's right, very soon you'll be introducing new foods, wearing new clothes and telling other new post-ops how worth it the clear liquid diet was!  :)

Thanks for the words of wisdom and encouragement.  Barb, I haven't even scrapped since I came home - and I'm a daily scrapper.  The past two days all I've wanted to do was sleep.  I'm making sure tho that I get up and move and move my ankles and legs.  I was walking like crazy up to Saturday and then got in this funk.  Maybe the rain has been the problem too.  I'll keep putting one foot in front of the other.  Thanks again.
