Hello, New here
Hey Fran,
Welcome to the board!!! We are glad to have you here! I'm a SS patient also (had Dr. MacDonald) and you will find that they are a great group of people!!! I agree with what everyone else has said about RNY vs. Lap... it's just up to you and what YOU want... we all have our own preferences.
Good luck with whatever you decide and we are glad to have you here!

It's a BOY!
Hi Fran!
Welcome to the board. There is a lot of great info available here. It's been an awesome resource and everyone has provided unbelievable support. I think someone already mentioned this, but there is a forum for both the surgeries you are considering. You should post on both those boards as well as this one. The more info you have the more comfortable you'll be with your decision. Good luck and keep us updated!

Hi Fran!
Welcome to the North Carolina Forum! This is a great group of people, who will help you to work your way through the process (both before and after surgery.)
Excited and nervous is how we all felt in the beginning stages, so you're right on track! Read, read, read and ask, ask, ask. In time you'll become more comfortable with your decision, whether it's RNY or lap band. The risks are just that...risks. There isn't a list that will tell you exactly what you'll experience, all you can do is educate yourself so you're prepared for whatever might or might not come your way.
Good luck, and again...welcome!

Hey Fran:
Welcome to the family! I researched both surgeries and was still on the fence. I have a surgeon I really trusted and because of the amount of wt. i had to lose, he recommended the RNY and I took his expertise that it would be best. I have not been sorry. Each of us have our own reasons for doing what we chose and different cir****tances make each better for different ppl. (does that make sense?)
Just keep talking to everyone and your surgeon and your decision will fall into place for you.
Take care and good luck!!
Pam
Hi Fran, I am also new to OH and new to this process. I have already done everthing and my surgery is scheduled for May 14th. I to am from around Goldsboro so maybe we will see each other some time. There is a local support group that I have found out about and have been to one of the meetings and found it very helpful. If I can be of any help let me know, and congratulations on your decision which every way you go.
Thanks, I will keep you in my thoughts for your surgery! Anyone who has used Southern Surg....have thoughts on this....Being in a bit away from Greenville, has anyone ever used other Dr.'s more in there area to get the pre-op stuff done at. IF I have the Cardia work up, endoscopy, etc done at the hospital in Goldsboro, I don't even pay a co-pay.....just wondering if you are required to use the groups these send you to.
Thanks, and a special thanks to everyone here, you guys are so welcoming!!
Fran
