Hello, New here

Hi, my name is Fran, and today I had my first appointment to start the process. I am really excited, and a bit nervous.  I really think I want the Gastric Bypass, and not the lap band, but I am a little conserned about the risks.  I look forward to learning from all of you who have been through it. Hi Fran! Welcome!!!! You'll find this board to be very welcoming and extremely helpful and supporting! You'll LOVE Dr. Naziri - of course I'm a little biased since he did my surgery and all. :) Both procedures have their own set of risks - so you just have to weigh the pros and cons of each and decide what's best for you. I look forward to getting to know you as you start this wonderful journey! Becky :)

Hi Fran, welcome!    As far as which surgery to go with, do your research, talk with your surgeon and folks who have had both and go with your gut!  You will lose weight with either.   I chose the RNY because of the long term success rate and not having to have a foreign object in my body forever.  You just have to do what feels right for YOU!  Good luck and again, welcome to the NC board!

Hey Fran!! Welcome!! I am also new here. Everyone on here have been so nice and helpful. I am addicted to this forum! I read it everynight before I go to bed!! I had my first appt on March 13th. All my appts have been scheduled. I could not believe how fast SS was about my scheduling! I am also choosing Dr. Naizir. I haven't meet him yet, but I heard that he will do my Endoscopy. I can't wait to meet him. Good luck in your process. We will be going through this together!!! Maybe I will see you at one of the appts!

Welcome to the board Fran!!  It's always nice to see new people!  Research all you can about the surgery you want to have, you'll hear many different opinions, but in the long run, it's your body and what YOU feel you want to live with.  Kind of like haircolor.......to each his own, I guess, lol.  This board is the best for any answers..........don't hesitate to ask!!  Have a wonderful day tomorrow!! Hi Fran. Welcome to the boards. Any questions you have, just ask and someone will be about to answer your question. Research your options and just do what is best for you.

Congrats on taking the first step that will change your life forever :-)  It's the hardest, I think, because you have to recognize something in yourself that most people try to avoid. Ask any questions, voice any concerns, etc. etc.  All types visit this forum, so you'll get all sorts of ideas and inspiration.
