Didnt know my bag was that heavy LOL
I had a spinal tap done almost 10 years ago. Even back then it did not hurt. They had me sit on a stool and lean onto the bed. The doctor did the spinal tap and although it was a little uncomfortable, it was not painful. I was having headaches and was diagnosed with sydo cerebri tumor Sorry about the spelling). I was treated and I have not had any other problems with that for years. Good luck with yours but when he tells you to lay down afterwards do it.
Hey Darcie... Wanted to let you know that I too have suffered a great deal with migranes. For years!! I have done all of the potions, lotions, tens units, massage, meditation, etc. I finally did have both an MRI and CAT and discovred a bulging disc in my neck. I get burning on the right side of my neck and it shoots down my arm. I ended up having numerous tests and finally the only thing that worked is muscle relaxers that I take every night. It appears that I grit/grind my teeth tremendously during sleep and this was causing lots of pressure on my discs in my neck. go figure? but that has seemed to work for the most part. I do still get the monthly hormonal migrane and that just started back horribly last month. So a trip to my neuro is in order and I'm going in a couple of weeks.
I've had a spinal nerve block also for this pain and they put that in the spinal tissue also. I had to stay in recovery for 6 hours and lay as still as possible. Honestly the relaxers work just as well and I opted not to do the spinal block any more.
I am thinking of you and really do hope you get some relief. I totally understand your situation and I sympathize completely. Keep us posted please about this process and let us know how you are doing. I'm huggin ya from here !!!
Hugs!

THIS IS MY TIME!!!!!!!!!!!
Pretty girl Connie... thank you for your post, you and I seem to be in the same boat. The only thing I dont like is the muscle relaxers can only be taken at night or it wipes me out all day long and makes me feel like I drank a bottle of vodka, which leaves me suffering all day long waiting for night time to be comfortable. Hubby had a shoulder nerve block done and hes a rough and tough Marine who can handle pain and he said the needle was HUGE and it hurt like heck, Ive already decided to pass on the nerve block, Im hoping the word surgery does not come up... I think I would pass on that too. Thank you Connie for sharing your story with me, your the best.

I'm sorry you're in pain but I'm glad you're going in and having it checked. I had to have a spinal tap 3 years ago and I was very very scared also. But it really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I worked myself up and almost had a nervous breakdown...ugh! Anyway, just do exactly what they say and you'll be fine. The hardest thing for me was being absolutely still for that long. If you need to escape just give me a jingle on my cell phone, remember I'm a 911 dispatcher and I have connections with ambulance drivers all over... lol!
Take care and I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers girl!

hey Darcie, so sorry you're having to go through all this, but hopefully they will figure out what the problem is and be able to fix it. Girl, you made it through all the workup and surgery for RNY; this should be a breeze! My hubby had to have one in Oct right after my surgery and he got along great and said it was not painful. He came home and both of us laid around all afternoon and watched TV. Let us know how it goes!
