More Questions for Bauman patients
My other question is how much money out of pocket did you have to pay prior to your surgery date? I was told that the hospital and Dr. Bauman require that you pay the difference of what the insurance company want pay?
It depends on your insurance - if you have a set copay they may ask up front, if you pay a percentage then typically the surgeons office will ask for it up front and the hospital will bill you later. The surgeon/hospital cannot bill you what the insurance company wont pay as long as they are both innetwork - they can only bill you what the insurance company says you owe.

I have BCBS federal and all I paid was 250 up front nad a couple of copays. The hospital was 100 I think and there was some extras for anisthesia after surgery. But up front before surgery was only the 250 and 100 at hosp. I get along fine with the nuts. They try to make sure I understand and I have no trouble with appointments. I like all the staff at Baumans office.

I have BCBS of NC and had to pay 780.00 to Dr. P's office and 1275.00 to the hospital. Apparently they had some problems in the past where people didn't pay or bounced checks, so the hospital had to change their policy on payments. I hadn't met all of my deductible and also had out of pocket expenses that I had to take care of.
There is more then one nut Ruth is available also. I don't know why they book everyone with Diane. I personally think it is good to alternate. It's good not to go to one all the time. More knowledge for you the better. Feel free to PM me anytime you have questions I will be happy to help.
The only thing I don't like about the office staff is if one thing goes wrong the whole dept talk about it.. they all know what is going on. They are friendly and nice.
