So I had a light bulb go off tonight in my head.  I knew if I asked this question to all you wonderful "losers" out there you would help me with my grocery list.  On April 7th I begin a liquid diet to shrink my liver and lose some weight before my surgery on the 14th.  I know that I need to test my protein shakes still but while I am on my 2 weeks after the surgery what else should I "must have".   sugar free ice pops  sugar fee crystal light what else? Thanks Liz

For Post-op, I think you have to stick with broth. But for the 2 week pre-op diet, I was allowed cream of chicken, tomato, cream of mushroom....anything without chunks of meat, veggies or noodles. My NUT also allowed non-starchy veggies but diets vary greatly. Some surgeons don't even do a pre-op liquid diet. Check with yours to make sure of what you can and cannot have.

Fat free cream soups are good for your new tummy. Mine LOVES soup!!! I make creamy potato or tomato and add a can of crabmeant to it to pad up the protein content. Try some! Yummeeeeeeeeeee

YES!  SOUP is the deal.  Karen gave you some really really great advice here.  I ate creamy soups like Creamy Mushroom, Creamy Chicken.. etc.  You can also blenderize stuff at a certain point.   Good luck!!

Sugarfree popsicles, yogurt, pudding, jello & chicken broth.  I also order protein bullets which are 42g of protein in 3 ounces online which my doc let me use a week after surgery.  I have heard that some do not so that is something you need to ck.    I am 5 weeks post as still use protein bullets as a protein supp as I am still not eating enough to get in 80g of protein and they are the least disgusting taste to me.  (grape & fruit punch taste like liquid jello..orange are disgusting!).
