A 3 week stall at 5 months????

This is for those who are further out than me...  I've been stalled for 3 weeks and I'm getting really frustrated.  I'm eating right and exercising about the same as always so what's it going to take to get that dang scale moving again?  I'm on my way to Orlando for a meeting this weekend and I'll be away from my scale for about 5 days.  Maybe it just needs a rest????  I know, I know, stay off the scale but I confess, I'm addicted to it...  is there a support group for that type of addiction?  SAA???

Sorry about the stall Alice....they are miserable.  I also am addicted to my scale...think i have taken my addiction for food and put it into my scale.  Think i am on it at least twice a day!    Maybe the trip to Orlando is what you need! You have done awesome.   Good luck with the evil scale! Pam

Hi Alice,

I know that this is so frustrating, but it will pass ... just be sure that you are leading with protein and staying away from simple carbs. Be sure that your protein, fluids and overall calorie content is what it needs to be per your programs guidelines. Keep exercising and it will start coming off again. It can be really scary when this happens because we're not done yet and are afraid that this might be the end, but it's not ... your body is just taking a breather.

Hang in there kiddo.

Thanks Guys, I know you're right, I need to stay off it.  Maybe when I get back next week it will have moved and keep moving again.  I know I'll be doing a bunch of walking at DisneyWorld!  I'll be thinking about ya Darcie!

it is so normal to stall at your point in the journey,, your body is worried the food is gone,,, it will be okay we all did the stall-- just keep up the good work and this too shall pass. :)

My 5th month out I went up and down the same few pounds the entire month.... at the end of the month my total loss was 1 pound.... then the first 2 weeks of the next month I dropped something like 10 pounds. So yah, its normal... just be patient and it will pass - you dont need to do anything to get the scale moving again except to be patient :-) Many times when the scale stops the tape measure moves so check those inches. Scale addiction can be a bad thing... just make sure you arnt relying on the scale for your happiness... look at the surgery as a whole and not just a number - how do you feel? off any meds? inches lost? clothes too big? something you can do now you couldnt before?  I have a friend who will be 6 years out this year and her entire life revolves around the scale... its very sad - it dictates her mood and what she will eat that day. I myself weigh daily but I have for the past 8+ years or so... its just part of my routine... *shrug*

Thanks Jennifer, and you're absolutely right.  I have so many other measures of the success of this surgery than the scale.  Most important is that I feel great; better than I have in 10 years.  And I'm off my blood pressure meds and antidepressant meds.  I'm not losing inches as fast but the inches ARE going too; the tape measure and the scale must be plotting against me I know in my heart that this will pass, it just helps so much to hear others experience so I know I'm not alone!   Thanks everyone!  I feel better!   You are the greatest!  Alice

We get so scale focused... even I was guilty of it early out. Its good to remind ourselves of other things, especially when the scale is being a PIA. I have to thank my support group leader for teaching me to get my 'success' from more than just the scale- she always asks us at meeting to say a non-scale success, even non-WLS related success.

Hi Alice... I hope you have fun in disneyland :) Stalls will drive ya nuts, but it's something you kinda get use to. I'm in the middle of another one too.  But if you look at the overall progress, not too shaby ehh.. Your doing great. Hang in there.
