Not quite blackouts

Ok guys, I'm turning to my OH family for ideas. This started on Easter. I stood up, walked a little bit and then had to hold onto the wall. I don't feel dizzy, but my eyesight starts to go fuzzy black. Like tunnel vision. It starts from the outside and works it's way towards the center to where I can't see at all and then back out again to normal. All in a matter of seconds. It's starting to happen more frequently. So now of course I'm starting to freak out. I'm out of town so I don't want to call the doc and be told to head into the office. I feel fine except for when I get hit by that. Suggestions for what could be happening? For the most part I'm still following the post op diet, might be a bit behind on water, but I'm aware of that and trying to do better. It's just a bit unsettling.

Ok, all this is is personal experience sharing on my part.  Don't know if it would be considered "the same thing" but it could be similar and be caused by the same thing. From the time I was about 5 weeks out I've had what I deemed my "freaking out episodes" The first time I was driving down the road and all of a sudden from the corner of my eye I would see these moving circles.  They would get faster and bigger with time to where I couldn't see hardly at all, would give me a slight headache, and make me feel kinda tired and sick to my tummy.   If I would eat something, they would go away fairly quickly.  I finally told the nurse about it and she said it sounded to her that I was Really low on my protein (maybe if just for the day) because it can "cause a reaction" in some people that were used to having lots of protein before surgery.  So now, almost like a diabetic, I carry cheese sticks, or protein bars with me in case it happens.  Seems to work for me? Hope it may help a little even though it's not totally the same!! GET BETTER AND TAKE CARE!! Connie

Thanks for responding. I did go and eat some more. I feel like I'm being a pig though. Now that you mention it, it does leave me with a headache. If it keeps up I'm gonna have to call the docs tomorrow. Thanks again.

Hey Andrea!!!! I miss you!!!!! :) Hope you are having a good vacation though. :) Well besides these spells. I have had that happen a few times. It usually happens when I've gotten up really quickly. Blood pressure might have something to do with it. Dehydration could also play a part. Catch up on your water and focus on your protein. When are you coming home?

Hey Becky! I figured I could get you this way. Thought about calling ya. Amber's off tomorrow and Friday so we'll get to do some things together. In the meantime I've been playing with Savannah. I won't be home until Sunday sometime. Depends on when I leave GA.

Good Afternoon,   Sorry to hear that you are feeling this way . I think that same thing that is happeing to you has happened to me in the past.  In end it was dehydration and vertigo. I started having problems with my vision and then black outs....and it went to memory loss. I hope that they are able to work everything out and you get to feeling better.

NEVER hesitate to call the Dr - if they tell you to come in explain you are out of town and cant and the nurse should call you back. I called my Surgeon when I was 500 miles away and had no issues talking to the nurse at the office.  Really could be a few things - dehydration, malnutrition, vitamin deficiency... so many things hard to say. Make sure you are working on getting tha****er in, keeping up with vits/supps and meeting your nutritional requirements each and every day.

I do agree that it might be protein...but I also know that Dena here on the NC board also had something similar to this.  She got some bloodwork done and found out she was low on Thamine. (spelling?).  BUT....like Jennifer said...  never ever hesitate to call your dr.  I had to do that this week for my migraines and I'm going to see my neurologist next week.   Good Luck...  and I do hope you feel better sooner than later!!
