I got a date!

I told everyone at Beans the other night, but I wanted to share with my other friends here.  I got my surgery date on this past Tuesday.  My surgery will be on May 6th.  I am really excited, but for the first time I am scared.  I do not know how normal that is, but I have spent a good deal of time thinking about my own mortality since Tuesday.  Is that strange?  Is there any advice you can give me? {{{Jamie}}} What wonderful news hon!! Congratulations!! All your hard work and efforts are paying off sweetie, this is going to happen. :)

Oh yes, it is quite normal to be scared, nervous and even nauseated!! This is a huge deal. It's a life altering moment in time, yes, being nervous is nearly required! LOL

I just know you will do fine hon. Get back to the basics and keep your goals in front of you. Remember the strong woman inside that's worked so hard for this and remember that getting your tool is just the beginning of your journey. There's a reason so many of us refer to surgery day as our 're-birth'. It's a new beginning. :)

Again, congratulations sweetie. I'm so excited for you. Post as much as you want and ask lots of questions too!

Does your surgeon require a 2 week liquid fast before hand? Do you already know what they want you to prepare for as far as nurishment for the first couple of weeks after?

Holley,

I appreciate your message.  Hopefully I will get to meet you some day soon.  You are such an uplifting person!  If I remember correctly, you live in Sanford?

I do not know much about preop or post op right now.  I know that I do not have to do liquid preop unless I gain.  After that I am not sure.  Thanks again!  I am nervous but when see all of you progressing, it makes me feel more comfortable. JamieLynn

Jamie, that is GREAT news!  Congratulations!  I am so happy for you!  And yes, of course it is normal to feel anxious about this!  IT's a life changing event.  You have never lived in that world before, it is uncharted territory for you.  Perfectly normal!  Thanks for sharing your wonderful news!

((((JamieLynn)))),

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on getting your surgery date!!

Secondly, as others have said it's very normal to be nervous. Not just because you are about to enter unchartered waters, but because there is small, but real risk that you could die. We all 'know' that as we start to research this, but when we get down to brass tacks it becomes more real for some of us. If you read my profile you will see my own thoughts and struggle with this issue. What I can tell you, is that I looked at my reasons for persuing this and the pros and cons associated with those reasons. I also looked at the statistical likelyhood of my demise without going forward. For me, there was no alternative but to proceed.

Please check out my profile and then give me a call or send me a note if you want to talk.

Hugs,

Barb

P.S. I hope to see you before your surgery ... either at the support group meeting or otherwise ... give me a call.

Barb,

What can I say about you?  You are an angel!  You are so supportive and helpful and very special to me.  I appreciate you and what you do for not only me but all of us.  I will read your profile, and I hopefully will get a chance to call you either this Thursday or this weekend.  Thank you or being you! Congrats!!! I think it's normal to be scared. My surgery is in 10 days and I'm really scared silly.

Pink,

I feel you, girl!  But, hey, you are going to beat me to the losers' bench! I will be right behind you, and we both are going to be fantastic!  Thank you for your support and let me know if there is anything I can do for you. JamieLynn
