Follow Up from Doc Yesterday - 1 week
Good Afternoon Folks!
I had my follow-up appointment yesterday and everything went great! I am down 18 lbs. They took out my staples, which is so pain free it is amazing. They taped up my abdomen and gave me my new list of foods. I was so excited with my mashed potatoes and cottage cheese, I went to Harris Teeter and spent $65 on the "new stuff". It's funny, though, because I am eating such small portions that those groceries will probably last me until my next food "upgrade"!
I'm going to Myrtle Beach this weekend and will be allowed to add fish. YUM! I can't wait!
This morning in the shower my top incision popped open as the tape the put over it yesterday. I called the surgeon's office and they had me come right over. They cleaned it out and taped it closed and now we are watching for signs of infection! YIKES!!!
If that is my only complication, though, I'm good to go!

WOW you get meat quick, I think I had 2 months before I was allowed, I did crab legs ( not a good choice, I think I ate too fast and was so sick ) ,,, so take it slow , chew lots , and respect the pouch :)
You are doing great keep up the good work. Cottage was so good for me I could eat it and felt like a queen, one small serving size lasted all day but I really loved it , also make yourself some sugar free jello and add to it YUMMY treat.
but remember slowwwwwwwwwwwwww
That's good news...except for the incision episode. Eeeeek!
I am almost 6 weeks out and I tried fish again last night. Still no luck getting it down. I thought that nice, white, flaky fish would surely be my friend. Not so. Be careful with whatever you eat.
Cottage cheese is one of my favorite things to eat still. Loaded with protein and my tummy loves it.
Good luck with experimenting and have fun in Myrtle Beach.
xoxo

Thanks Mare! I ate lunch with hubby today at Applebee's and got the chicken tortilla soup - ate the broth - and garlic mashed potatoes - had a few spoonfuls. The hardest part was not drinking with my food! I'm not sure that will every come easily. I think my husband was happy that we would still be able to go out to eat, even though it will be different for me. I told him next week at the beach I would just eat off of his plate and we could save a bundle!!!
Have a great holiday!
Susan
