Sudafed - is it a no-no??? If it's not a no-no is it crushable???????? I'm dying with allergy/sinus/feel like my heads going to explode problems. Sudafed has always worked for me. I won't even mention the fact that tylenol has never, nor does it now help my headache. Any advice on that one? Thanks ladies! You all are the bestest!!!!!!!!!!! :) Becky

I use Sudafed products and what I get is either the liquid (which is so hard to find) or I cut the small tablet into 1/2 or 1/4's. You can crush them as long as they are not the Extended Release version. So if they say, 12 hr, or 24 hr relief, you can't crush those.

I am currently having a nasty sinus head cold bout as well. I'm taking the Sudafed product that has phynelephrine and chlorphenermine in it. That's a decongestant and an antihystmine.

The orriginal Sudafed is pseudophedrine and the crack dealers have ruined things for us with that one, so getting that version you have to ask the pharmacist for it and sign your life away. You can take that one as well if you want to go through the hassel.

Good luck, I hope you get some releif soon!

Would something like Alavert or Claritin work for you?  They have the benefit of being 12/24 hours, and both are small.  In fact, Alavert is available in a melty-thingy so no pills to deal with. Sudafed shouldn't hurt your pouch.  And it *is* crushable (how do you think they make meth ;) but I don't know if *I* would take it crushed. Try the claritin or alavert.  I just gave hubby his first claritin of the year tonight.

Thanks for the response!!!! I have the real sudafed (crack dealers please stay away, ha!). My husband gets it from the Brody School of Medicine pharmacy for 84 cents! I'm running to the kitchen right now to see if they are 12 hour. I sure hope not!!! PS. Holley you look great! Love the new avatar! :)

Why thank you Becky! {{hugs}}

I hope you found some Sudafed you can take. I think I'll be heading to the Dr's office this morning, all my 'stuff' is turning green and yellow! Blegh! I hope yours doesn't progress to that degree. I've been here at work all night researching what antibiotics I'll be able to tell the Dr. I  can take. Yay...I need to start a new thread in fact.

DO NOT CRUSH THE SUDAFED!! That crap is wicked all on it's own. Time-released tablets from HELL!! (I can't take them & I need them very much right now.) Have to use my Neti pot before bed to clean those sinuses out. Sorry Beck. Feel better. xoxo  Messy Sneeze PS - Tylenol is not my friend neither. Excedrin for headaches...miss that stuff.

That's a shame you have so much problem with Sudafed. As long as I buy the kind that is NOT time released, it doesn't bother me at all. Nothing more than the normal 'medicine' head I've always gotten from it.

Tylenol is the ONLY thing I can take. Dr. C says NoNo to any sort of NSAID like Ibuprophen, naproxen and the like so the Acetamenophin (tylenol) is all I can take, and it doesn't help me like my good old Ibuprophen used to. :(

Yeah, I sorely miss my Motrin. I took them for my arthritis. (Ankles, lower back, hips.) It's getting better as the weight comes off but now that I am exercising a bit, I REALLY need some.

Try carrying a small bottle of Eucalypsus (SP?) oil.  Sniffing some on a piece of cotten kept in a ziplock, cause everyone will smell it, helps with the sinus.
