Hello Fellow Losers, I did get approval from insurance to get my panni removal-- GREAT right ??? Well today when the lady at Dr Eaves called to schedule me , she said he would not do the panni unless I had another out of pocket procedure done ... WHAT !!!!!!!!!  I told him I only wanted a panni, due to my skin rashes and horrible infection , he agreed with me a panni would help me , now they tell me ,, " you could have your breast done "  NO I CAN"T I still owe thousands on my RNY I can not strench the budget anymore for awhile .... What do you all think ? Isn't that  crazy , If I ask for a panni removal , why must I do more, I don't care to have a binki body, shucks I am 43 , I just want to be able to exercise again. I called another local surgeron and was told they would do what ever I WANTED/NEEDED no extra stuff .. of course now if I change doctors I will need to start the insurance approval over again,,, I AM SO MAD right now what a load of crap.  Help me, what do you all think ? Pugs Momma in tears

That is a bunch of crap for sure. I don't know what to tell you other than it sucks. I am sorry that happened to you.  Are you sure you will have to start the approval process all over again? It seems if they have approved then it would be for the pocedure ifself and now matter about the doc but I guess that isn't the way it works, huh? Was the process a long process to get approved. Perhaps since it had already been approved then it would not take as long or perhaps you can call and talk to the insurance and see if it would have to be redone or whatever. Just a thought. Keep your chin up. I know if I couldn't afford it then I wouldn't just arbitrarily (sp. ?) do an unneeded procedure.  Keep us posted.  Lisa

The insurance lady told me the new doctor would need to send in a letter saying I needed the surgery for medical reasons etc,,, I have a appointment to see doctor # 1 next week, so I am hoping a face to face will result in him just doing a panni removal if not I will see doctor # 2, on April  2nd and start it over again, at least this time I will know doctor # 2 is a doctor to help people not just a profit head ,, and yes I WILL let all you folks know if I find out that  he refuses  to do surgery to removal my panni because I can not pad his pocket.   When I meet with the plastic surgeron I really liked him and I honestly thought he wanted to help Gastric By passers...

I have posted on the plastic board and it looks like this is a commom thing with some PS - greedy %$#@*()(*&&$^$$  ( okay the hillybilly is coming out )  I will keep you all posted. THANKS

I sure hate to hear about all the B.S. they're giving you.  I think it's crazy that they require another out of pocket procedure- one that you might not even need/want.  I think if it were me, I would be going to the other Dr.  You might have to jump through the hoops again, but it might be worth it to work with a surgeon who actually cares about YOU, and not your wallet.  Best of luck to you.........hey, at least you weren't denied!   Nancy

What utter crapola.  I can't believe they're making you jump through hoops so some surgeon can get a new deck put on his swimming pool. Grrrrrrr. How about this -- what if you suggested that Dr. Eaves do a pro bono breast reconstruction for a cancer patient instead of asking someone who doesn't need one to undergo the procedure.  THAT should shame him.  If he even hesitates for a moment, he's not the surgeon I'd want to work with!

That's a load of BULL.  Call your insurance company and talk with them about it.  See if they can recommend another plastic surgeon in your area.  Keep us posted....

Was it the office manager that called you - or just a scheduler? I would call and speak to his office manager if that isnt who you spoke to. I dont understand why they wouldnt have told you upfront if that was the policy. If they stay firm about it you could push and ask to speak to DrEaves directly - many times the Drs dont know fully what goes on 'behind the scenes' with the office managers and how the patients are treated etc. If you want the procedure with DrEaves I would at least try and see if you can get anywhere with the office. In the end if they dont budge I would definately let them know you will be sharing your story with others on OH, it definately makes me think twice about using him if he is only in it for the $$. Its really sad that DrEaves would do that, he is one the top surgeons in Charlotte and definately doesnt need the money from an additional procedure based on the prices he charges.

Jen, I do have a appointment with Dr Eaves next week to talk face to face, also I did send the scheduler a email this morning and asked if I could just talk to Dr Eaves over the phone or email him and ask him directly about the issue, of course she has not replied yet... IT was the scheduler and she is new at the position as she was the insurance girl when I had my first appointment, so maybe she is just talking about something she does not really know about. And you can BET -  I will blow my horn if they won't do the surgery unless I have a out of pocket procedue.

As someone who has had 6 plastic surgery procedures done LOL Im a junkie.. I know the pressure they try to put on you. Tell them NO you are NOT there for your breasts, you only want the panni removal and that is it and if they wont back off then you will have to look elsewhere. Im sorry your going through this and hope you find a place you can go without feeling pressure :0
