Hey Melissa: I started soft foods about 2 weeks ago and have been eating a lot of cottage cheese, egg white, an ounce of low fat cheese with about 4 low fat wheat thins (it is wonderful to crunch things again), tomato soup with a few crackers, deli turkey which is high in protein with joseph's pita bread which is also high in protein and the big thing for me is baby fruit so i don't get stopped up.   I try to eat one of those a day.   When i started eating food, I started by eating a bite about the size of a pea and chewed until it was a mushy liquid.   Make sure you take about 30 min to eat.   i forgot about the peanut butter but glad i saw that suggestion. Like you i was scared to death but got over that when i had my first scrambled egg and it was creamy, dreamy and steamy like Kim said it would be.  I could not eat the entire thing though.  You will know when you are full.   I haven't felt hungry yet and only eat because i know i have to..... i am sure this to shall pass but i like it compared to my previous shoveling.   Good luck....you will do great and just listen to your pouch. Take care, Pam

Melissa, I haven't had surgery, yet, but I can relate to the fish and ketchup.  When I was younger that is the only way I would eat fish.  Now I LOVE to just squirt it with lemon juice or I marinate it in italian dressing (fat free, of course) before I grill, bake, or broil it.  Hope this helps. Amanda
