Well I am about 3 weeks out from RNY and I am still fat and not losing any weight since pre op diet. Dr is very conservative and I am still on a full liquid diet. So I am not eating and have not eatten since 2/7/08.  On the good side of my crabby rant is my blood sugar is down to 158 from high 300's and I am down to just one pill 2x's a day for my sugar. So the real reson I had surgery was to help with my sugar and I have been a sucess that way. However now I may have to give up my dream of being this summers Hawaiian Tropic Thong Queen. At least I won't have to suffer thru the bikini wax till next year

LOL! Your toooo funny, you actually thought that you were going to beat me in the  Hawaiian Tropic Thong Pageant?! JK   Congrat's on your medical accomplishments! That is sooo great to have gotten your BS under control. Don't write yourself off as not doing well in the weight arena! We all lose at VERY different rates. My weight is at a stand still also but I know that my body is recovering and that my time is coming! Hang in there Queen-E! LOL

Congratulations on getting those glucose readings down ... and with the reduced meds!

My program also was very conservative with a full liquid diet for the first 3.5 weeks. I dropped about 15 lbs the first 10 days then not a single pound!!!! It drove me crazy. I thought OMG, I'm the one person it's not going to work for. You can read about it in my profile. Welllll, if you look at my photos of the before/after, it's apparent that it did work. Some folks retain fluids post op and it takes a while for it to clear your system. On top of that, many of us have this darn stall that starts just about as fast as we have the surgery. Apparently, it's often worse if you were losing prior to surgery. The good news is that you will lose the weight ... I thought that I was a slow loser, it turned out that I was comparing apples to oranges and that actually I was on track for someone with my demographics ... you too may be doing better than you are giving yourself credit for ... A Hawaiian Tropic Thong may be in your future after all! :-)

Like you, the REASON I did this was because I wanted the diabetes resolved. By the time I was about 6 weeks out, it was and still is. My latest HbA1C was 5.2!!! I'll bet numbers like that are in your future too. My size 6/8 pants are the cherry on top, but I'll bet you'll be wearing thong with Cherries this summer ;-)

Hang in there and get ready for the bikini wax ... it's closer than you think!

I know you are discouraged about the weight, but what an encouragement you are to me regarding the diabetes.  I currently take 1 pill 3 times a day and I hope not too long after my surgery to have the diabetes disappear - so thanks for sharing this diabetes success story!!!  Hang in there and look at all the before and after pics - they are so amazing and encouraging to me.  I put this weight on over years and I know it will not fall off overnight - but I know it will come off!!!! And, yours will too!!
