questions for people with United Health Care ( and a WOO HOO!)

My papers have been sent to the insurance!!!I talked to Beth at Duke and she told me UHC took the full 15 days to come back ...Has this been your experence with UHC? I was thinking some of you guys had said yours came back sooner? maybe it was another insurance? ....Can you tell I am excited about this.....Does it help any to call the insurance and if I do call them .....Do I just ask for someone in claims and ask where my paperwork stands?.....and she said there were some surgery spots in APRIL.....I was in such a slump today, this has really got me out of it! yea!....~Mary~

Hey Mary! I got submitted to UHC on the 26th, and called their care coordination dept. daily to check my status.  I called on the 5th of March in the a.m. and wasn't approved so I called back on a whim that evening and was approved.  I got my approval letter in the mail yesterday and faxed it to Beth this morning.  Called her at 11 a.m. and she gave me next Wednesday as a date!  So keep on the insurance co.  And it will happen before you know it!  I know mine sure is!  Big hugs, Kim :)

While UHC often will take the full 15 days, sometimes it comes in sooner. My came back in 11 business days. They have 15 and I wouldn't be surprised at all if it takes them that long, but you might get lucky. It took 10 days just for it to get to the Medical Director's desk. Once it was there I got an answer the next day.

The good news is that Duke is really very thorough and Beth knows her stuff, so the likelyhood that it will be approved is pretty good if you meet all the criteria set forth by your policy.

It took about 10 day for me to get a reply. I didn't call UHC because I get so aggrevated with the people answering questions. Good luck!! I've got my fingers crossed for you. Pink

My doctors sent my papers in to UHC on Feb. 26 and they were approved on Feb 29th.. So it only took three days for me.
