Packing my bag!
Ok...my surgery is tomorrow and I am packing my bag. I have read a lot of posts about what to take and I have packed lip balm, books, ipod, pillow, pj pants, slippers, no water shampoo (because I don't want greasy hair!). I know there were a few other suggested items. Let me know if I have left your "must have" item off of the list. Can we suck on sugar free mints? Can I take my own Crystal Light?
Thanks in advance!
Susan
p.s. My Bowel Prep, which was taken at 5:30 yesterday afternoon, did not take effect until this morning on my way to school!!! It said 30 minutes to 6 hours! YIKES!!!! Lucky me.
Good luck to you, Sue.
I packed a bunch of crap and the only thing I used was my Blistex. I wore the same clothes home I came in...except for clean bloomers. I packed ear plugs incase it was a noisy floor. (It wasn't.) If you use a CPAP, bring that too. Can't think of anything else.
Can't wait to hear that you're home & feeling good.

I just got home Saturday from the hospital, my surgery was Wednesday! I packed my bag full of stuff from everyones suggestions on here..HONESTLY here is what I needed
Blistex/Lipbalm
Slippers
Robe (if you want one, i didn't take one)
1 or 2 of your most comfy pillows
change of clothes (I wore what I went in with)
1 pair of clean underwear for the trip home
Toothbrush and toothpaste
Lotion
Hair tie or scrunchee
A Hubby or friend (THESE ARE USED the most...LOL)
They provide you with alot of stuff - my hospital gave me special soap to wash with, i did not take a shower to wash my hair while i was there..just skin wash, they provided baby powder, lotion and toothbrush and toothpaste, slip resistant socks (UGLYYYY!!)lol
I DID NOT use my MP3 player, magazine (too tired to even care) Book, (can't concentrate after surgery) YOU WILL SLEEP ALOT!!!!! Puzzle books (too tired to even care) WE did not even have the TV on the whole time, i just wanted some peace and quiet!!
I dont think the sugar free mints is a good thing right away...you cannot have a single thing not even a sip of water until the day after your surgery when they do the leak test.
This may or may not help, but I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery!!! You will do great!!!

Thanks for the tips, ladies! I will be throwing a few more things into my bag! I bought a cute pair of sock slippers at Target this weekend to wear. My son was in the hospital on New Year's Even and his slipper socks put the insurance company out $44.00!!! And they were surprised when i called to inquire! I am very much looking forward to the rest. :)
Good luck tomorrow! We'll be praying for you to have a safe, smooth surgery and a quick, uncomplicated recovery. Remember, you'll be brining home more than you take, so pack the essentials ( in a rolling suit case if you have it). Big NO on the SF mints and crystal lite. You won't want them anyway at that point. I didn't start eating any type of mints until I was off the liquid stage.
See ya on the losers bench! alice

Hey Susan....The only things i used were my slippers, robe (but not til iv was taken out), clean underwear and deoderant. Went home in the same clothes i went in. One word of caution is to make sure your pants have a very lose waist. My 5 baby incisions were right at the waist line and i had to roll my pants down under them to be comfortable. When i got home i wore an old pair of big stretch pants for the first week.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you!
Take care, Pam
