Back to work next week and nervous
Well i go back to work next Tuesday which will be 3 weeks post surgery. Don't know if from the surgery, from to few calories (have a hard time getting to 600) or just got lazy staying home but still feel weak. I do get out a few times a day to the mall or store and then walk between a 1/2 mile to a mile a day except today cuz of the rain. I work in an office and while my job is not strenuous, it is very stressful. How did y'all do going back to work? Glad my first week back will only be a 4 day work week.
Thanks, Pam
Do you have to go back full-time right off the bat? Perhaps your employers would work with you a little and let you ease back into the routine. Is that doable?
I went back a little early (one week -- not long enough, considering the hernia repair and the allergic reaction that had me in the hospital the weekend after surgery, but I'd been sick much of the winter and had no more sick days left). Fortunately, my office was really compassionate about letting me work from home in the evenings so I could take off early in the afternoons at 2 or 3 for a much-needed rest. As long as my editing and writing were done by the next morning, it was all fine.
Also, just phone it in for a while. If you have kind coworkers, they'll likely remember the times you helped them out so they could attend to issues at home or a medical concern of their own. Or that time they rigged it up so that everyone thought Kathy was at your house when really she was running off to St. Maartens with that hottie James McAlvoy and you had to cover for her when her husband came to her office to surprise her with big fondue party in the back of the stretch Hummer limo he hired for their anniversary. And they'll put in an extra 5% of effort so you can get the rest you need and ease back to becoming WunderPam, the Fiesty Office Diva.
Maybe?
A week after surgery, my parents went home and I went back to work. I'm a single mom with a very active 4 year old and except for the "no picking her up", everything went great. I'm 9 weeks post-op now, down 42 lbs and working out at the gym everyday for an hour. I'm sure everyone has a different experience but for me, this surgery has been surprisingly easy. I make sure to follow my doctor's instructions exactly. Maybe I should knock on a big ole piece of wood as I type this but I had no problems what so ever going back to my normal routine after a week.
Thanks for the input. The problem is our office is in a huge transition and taking in claims from other offices because of restructuring. There are only 4 of us that handle the huge Litigation and severe injuries and the 3 of them have been so kind in pulling all the weight plus keeping up my mail, etc. I have been working emails from home and since i get about 50 a day, that part will be done. Think I am just nervous about getting back to my old routine....now winning the lottery tonight would eliminate all that..lmao. Then I wouldn't have to worry about work or co-workers since we are all in a pool...lol. I can dream!
Wulf...did u have rny or lap band. Either way it is remarkable that you could get back to work that fast.
Maybe my biggest problem is to much rest! thanks, Pam
