I was wondering if I could go to my pcm and get some test done to speed up the process.  I dont have my first consultation until the 25th of march so would it help if I were to ask my pcm to see if he can do them?  And if so what test to I ask for?  Any advice would help.  Thanks Amanda

I know my PCP did my blood draw prior to me seeing the surgeon's office and i also had my complete physical which i was due for anyway.  I also suffer from GERD which causes chest pains and she was able to refer me to a cardiologist for a treadmill test.  This was not required by my surgeon but i wanted to make sure the ol ticker was in good shape prior to my surgery. Good luck, Pam

My PCP did all my blood test, physical, and even provided the prescriptions I needed for my Vitamin D issues. I only seen the Nutricianist and Psychologist outside of my PCP.

I didn't have half the tests some people have had. It's best to have your surgeon tell you what you need. Your PCP won't necessarily know what gastric bypass pre-op requirements are. Good luck with all & welcome! Mare

I had my PCP do most of my tests prior to my appointment with my surgeon. You can probably call your surgeon's office and ask them to send you a list of the tests that they normally require ... you should also ask them what the timelines are ... sometimes a test is good for a few weeks, sometimes a few months.
