old timer with some advice...
Hello Losers and Pre Losers, As I near to my 2 year surgery anniversary on March 14th, I have started thinking about what has me succesful with my weight loss. I started out at 327 pounds and today I am happy at 163, I feel like my brain is in a new body, I can do so much now that I would have never dreamed of before. For me gastric by pass has been a wonderful journey , I think I picked the best doctor Melkonian and the best nutritionst Allyson Ruthledge and they have both been so important to my success. I count myself very lucky to have had no problems after surgery, I know it was because I followed the instructions I was given, I only ate what I was told was ok to try , I got started in a exercise program ( Curves ) , I meet with others that had the surgery , I bought the GBS bible " Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies " ..... and above all I prayed The Lord would stay with me ... We all had the moments of " THIS IS NOT WORKING FOR ME ", or MY Lord I have only lost one pound in 2 weeks or the " stall " we all think is the end of our loss. But I say to you as the ones before me told me.... YOU are doing fine, keep up the food diary , keep moving , even while you set on the sofa at night get 2 cans of green beans and do arm crunches , anything you do that keeps you moving will help your loss increase. Take pictures of yourself every single week and date the bottom , these will be treasures one day, trust me. Don't allow head hunger to get you , GET up brush your teeth , take a walk or a warm bath. Stay on the board it will help keep you on track , brag on yourself. Take Care my Friends you are a winner and we all are cheering for you. The Pugs Momma aka A.D.
A.D.,
You just don't know how much I look up to you and appreciate you and your words of wisdom. I know that actually getting the pounds off is a major success in itself, but it's not how I would truly define success, because we've all done that before ... Maybe not to the extent we are able to with the help of our pouch, but we have had success at losing before. It is your success at maintain the loss that I aspire to. You give me encouragement and hope that I will make it in the long term; meaning that not only have I been able to get the weight off, but keep it off.
Thanks again and warmest congratulations!
