Needed to talk!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you in on the lastest. I got kind of disappointed last week, my psychologist did not clear me, I wanted to cry. She wanted me to try the 40 carb a day thing for 2 weeks, and then go back and see her. I have to say, I just knew that this was going to be the hardest thing that I would have to do! Actually since Ive started, its not been that bad. I have to say that I am doing extremely well. I go back to see her 3/12, and hopefully she will clear me then.  I have lost a few lbs. I am walking on the treadmill every night. I am doing my best. If she does clear me, then I get to schedule my surgery. How long does it normally take after you have your last clearance with Southern Surgical? Do you think April is out of my reach? I am starting to get a little anxious. I knew I could come and talk to my OH family, and you guys will make me feel a lot better. So keep your fingers crossed for me.  I read all of your stories, and I so can not wait to be sitting on that bench right beside all of you.  Thank you to everyone for listening to me whine for a little while.

While I can't comment on the timeline with Southern Surgical, I just wanted to say you should be proud of the changes you are making right now. I know it doesn't seem like it right now, but you are already on your way. The surgery is going to play a big role in the metamorphosis that you are undertaking, but don't think you aren't already making changes ... you are and they are going to pay off in a big way. While the surgery is going to give you a considerable boost and a tool, remember that it's your behaviors that are also going to play heavily into the longterm outcome and what you are doing now is changing your behaviors in a positive direction. That is HUGE!

Congratulations on the changes you are making.

Barb

Danielle, Was this your first visit with the Psyc? If so, then DON'T STRESS! She did the same thing to me-- only I had to wait ONE MONTH instead of two weeks. If it is who I think it is, I didn't like her that much, but she did release me when I went back. I almost think she does this to ALL of her patients... a money thing? I don't know... at least insurance pays for it. Don't be nervous-- be proud of what you have lost and it should be fine.  Call SS the minute you are released from the PSYC and let them know.  I think they have to wait a week or two to get the paperwork from her, but they should be able to schedule your surgeon meeting when you can. Then it's up to the schedule the surgeon has and the surgeries already booked.  I met with the psyc for the second time around Sept 10 I think, called SS, met Dr. Mac on October 1 and had surgery on October 11... he was originally scheduled to be off that week, but I slipped in that day as the first person since it just opened up.  Also, they could have booked me the following FRIDAY (I saw Dr. Mac on Monday, they had surgery opening on FRIDAY of that week), but I decided to wait for Dr. Mac to be back in town the following week-he was leaving the day after if I had surgery on that Friday. Needless to say, it was pretty fast with SS once you get all of your approvals. I think April is still a viable date for your surgery depending on the surgeon's schedule. You are going to do great and like Barb said-- just think, you are already making the necessary changes for your new lifestyle!!! If you are available, please come to the support group meeting at SS tonight... I'd love to meet you in person! ((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))) Melinda

Melinda,   Thank you. Her name is Jennifer Williams. I didn't think a lot of her anyway, it was my first time. It means a lot to have people like you and everyone up here to be behind and support me 100%. The meeting is at 6, at SS office, right? I really think that I am going to go. It sounds like fun, and I could learn a lot. I will see you there.  Much Love,   Danielle

The turn around for SS after everything is done is super quick. When I went they tried to schedule for in less than two weeks. There was no way I could get everything set up for my classroom in that time so I scheduled for a month from my date. So I would say that April is still very possible. Great to see you last night at the meeting.

Thanks! It was great meeting you! You look very good. I am getting a little excited, especially after last night. I am so glad that I went!! I just hope that "lady" will clear me next Wednesday. I have been doing very good. When I got home last night, I walked for 30 min on the treadmill. I was more motivated then anything after leaving last night!!
