Where did you notice weight loss first.

I have lost a total of 48 lbs since Sept. And I am still wearing most of the same clothes. When do you start to notice a difference in your clothes? Where did it go away first from? My mother in law told me yesterday that i looked like I was getting smaller in my shoulders. I was like SHOULDERS!?!?!?! I want to look smaller in my hips and butt! Shoulders I can work on later! LOL And how soon did you start do some exercise? I am 9 days post op and want to try and walk to my kids bus stop today ...its about a 1/2 mile one way. I feel pretty good but worry about over doing it or something coming loose. That is my nightmare  , that one day i will do something and my intestine will fall off my pouch! lol i know I am strange but anyways.....any thoughts on any of this? Thanks  Melissa

Hi Melissa: I believe the weight does work it's way down personally. I am hippy and carry the majority of weight lower body and it took a while to get "that" weight off. Just hang in there. You will be amazed at months from now where you will be. At one month you could barely tell with me(look at my pics wearing the same outfit) but just this morning I had to put yet another pair of pants in the to go stack. I went from 3x's (the red outfit in the pics)to about an 8-10 now (pants). Just hang in there and it WILL happen! Lisa

Wherever you want to lose the weight the most - is where you will lose it last. I couldnt WAIT to lose my big ole belly.. man oh man it 'hung' (in more ways than one!) on until the very end!  I noticed it in my wrists, hands, feet first.... I went from 252 down to around 215-220 before I started to need to buy clothes. We tend to lose our weight from the out to the in.. .starts at the tips of the toes, fingers, top of your head and works its way in.

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

BA/BL/Arm Lift - 7/2014

Scar revision on arms - 3/2015

Melissa -

First of all, congratulations on losing 48 lbs! That's an incredible accomplishment. I think I first noticed my weight loss in my face. I had a huge tummy and everything else ... LOL. I also noticed that when I took off the weight this time, I seem to be shaped differently than I was the last time I was small ... oh, 35 yrs ago or so ;-). Then, I was shaped more like Rachel Ray ... bigger on the bottom and smaller on the top. Now, if you look at my photos you'll see that I'm bigger through the top and smaller on the bottom. Go figure!

Be sure to take measurements. They will really help you get a better sense of the changes in the shape of your body. If you go to www.thinnerself.com ... chart weight and measurements I think ... they have a very comprehensive list of measurements you can chart once a month. They also have a chart that will show you visually where you started and where you are at any given point in time. It's a great way to 'see' the changes.

Also be sure to get monthly photos ... front, back and side ... yes, full body. I know that it's hard to do when we still aren't necessarily pleased with our appearance yet, but the reason for doing it is to get a bearing on the changes that are occuring so rapidly. Our minds really do have a hard time keeping up with the changes and anything you can do to help yourself re-adjust is a good thing.

Again, congratulations on 48 lbs gone!

Thanks all for your encouragements. I had been thinking I needed to take measurements and write them somewhere. Thanks for the link. I guess my patience is getting the best of me. I just thought , you know 50lbs should make a difference but I have noticed my feet and ankles dont seem so fat and I took a link out of my watch 2 wks before surgery. I just cant wait til I can buy clothes somewhere else other than Catherine's. I like most of their clothes but they tend to get pricey. I cant wait to go in Old Navy for myself and not just for my kids. I know it will come and I do realize this is the best thing I could of ever done. Even if I have days when I want to tatse garlic bread so bad it makes me cry! LOL. Thanks again for all your support.

I couldn't even wear stuff from Lane Bryant! Now I'm buying whatever I have to from Ross! Do you have one close to you? I tell you, I don't pay more than $10.00 for a shirt (unless it's a dress or suit) and it's WONDERFUL. When you go from buying clothes from Catherine's at their prices to ROSS prices, you really notice a difference. Try not to buy TOO many clothes b/c they will be TOO big in no time. Also, the sizes at Ross are a little behind the sizes at Lane Bryant/Catherine's.  I'm comfortable in a 3x, sometimes 2x in Ross shirts, but a 2x from Catherine's/Lane Bryant is almost too big! Try everything on and realize pretty soon you will be OUT of those sizes... it's hard to realize. I have a lot of clothes that are too big for me now... If you want to, PM me your size and I'll see if any of mine will work for you!  Alice has been gracious enough to share her BIG clothes with me, so I'll return the favor!!! Good luck to you on this amazing journey!

I lost in my face first. Then the boobies went very fast. The last was my big ol huge legs. Never to god thought the legs would loose. I jumped sizes I started at a 26 then down to a 18 jumped the other sizes to a 14 then 7,5,1 and now double 00. Sometime I jump back up to my o and ones. I keep all my clothes just in case. lol.lol. Yes I even still have then feel fat days. You have done very good on your weight loss. And I am a lazy person and was to sick so I never exercised. I know I know....but it is easy to hide the loose skin.....lol.....got all the tips on that....Good luck.

Melissa, My advice to you from my own experince is start with baby steps. I took about 8 weeks till I started feeling 100% and when the weight starts dropping you will start to notice you are able to do things without thinking you just do it. My new found energy level is fantastic. One of the first places I noticed was my shoes I went from a 10 to a 7.5 in two weeks after surgery. One more thing you will start to notice bones you thought you never had like your shoulders. I love to feel my shoulders mainly because I can really feel them now.                                                  Annie

It is never too late to be what you might have been.?

Speakin of chins, I went pretty quickly from having "no neck" to 3 chins, then 2!!! lmbo!!! Connie
