Hi Everyone! My name is Angela Perry and I live inWilson, NC. I have my orientation visit on March, 13th at Southern Surgical. I  will be choosing Dr. Naziri as my doctor. I am SO EXCITED!!! The 13th can't get here quick enough. I have been over weight all my life. I have tried several diets (Atkins, Weigh****chers, took fastin, went to Nutritional Weight Loss.....) but some how always gained every pound back. I have been reading the forums every night and everyone up here seems so nice and helpful.  It is almost like everyone becomes like family and from what I hear from different people that has had the suregy, you need alot of support. I look forward to taking to each and every one of you!!

Angela~

Welcome to the NC forums, I used Southern Surgical (Dr. Mann) and I will say that you are in great hands! I have seen and spoke to Dr. Nazari when I had my surgery when he was making rounds and he also was on duty when I asked to have that pesky catheter out and he was kind enough to say yes LOL He is a great guy and has also been a few of my friends Doctor for RNY and they all loved him. Congratulations!!

Darcie

Hi Angela - This site is wonderful. The folks on the NC forum are by far the most helpful that you'll ever find. I'm pre-op too and I can't imagine not having hte support from folks like these. I know people in my community who have had surgery but none of them open up like they do on here. There is no question that you cannot ask on here. Everyone is so helpful. Good luck on your journey. You'll love the folks at Southern Surgical. - Iris

Hi Angela! I live in right outside of Wilson in Elm City.  I'm going through all the pre-approval tests with Southern Surgical now.  I had my appointment with the pulmonologist today.  I'll be seeing Dr. MacDonald for Lap-Band surgery once I'm approved.  They have been so nice and helpful so far.   This forum has been great for me.  Everyone is so helpful and willing to answer any questions.  Welcome to the forum and good luck during your weight loss journey! Angela, I went to an informational seminar on February 12th and emailed the nurse the next day to sign me up to attend the mandatory patient education class.  I attended the class on the 25th and the nurse scheduled my psych, nutritionist, and cardiac appointments while I was there.  I have a pulmonologist, so she let me schedule that one.  About a week after my class, they called and scheduled my endoscopy and abdominal ultrasound.  So to break it all down...my pulmonologist appointment was yesterday, my psych and nutritionist appointments are today, and my endoscopy and ultrasound are Monday.  The last test (cardiac) is scheduled for April 3rd.   I've already had my 5 year weight history sent over to Southern Surgical, so once all the appointments are completed, I just have to wait for my insurance approval. From what I've read that can take a few days to months and months.  Hope this helps. Amanda

Welcome Angela: I agree with you about the diets, only i lost and always gained back more.  Said i would never, ever use the D word again.   I had RNY two weeks ago and the support here is phenomenol....i love everyone here!   I don't think i would have made it to surgery without the support here, especially the two weeks prior to it.   I was scared chitless to say the least and everyone helped me past that.   I was on CIB for two weeks prior to surgery and since 2/5 when i started that, 28 lbs are GONE.   I don't like to say lost as i don't plan on finding those buggers ever again.  Hope all goes well for you.  Don't be afraid to ask any questions thinking they are stupid (as none are) or share any doubts or concerns as this great group of people are about as open and supportive as they come. Welcome to the family from another somewhat newbie! Take care, Pam
