hair loss experiences??????

I keep hearing that hair loss can be attributed in part to anesthesia, but this was my 33rd surgery and I didn't have hair loss from any of the previous surgeries, even the ones that lasted more than five hours and were smack on the heels of another surgery.

Dee ( and Kim): I can only tell you what my anesthiologist (whatever) told me at Durham Regional and that is that anesthesia numbs/shocks the hair follicles deep inside the root (as it does other cells too) and once the hair grows out to the point of the "shock" then it falls out. Maybe some folks' follicles are more sensitive to the drugs used but mine also fell out at about 3 months until about 5 months out. I lost a lot of hair but I have a lot of hair so no one could tell any difference but me. Now, I am sure that those who have malabsorption surgery will have some issues with the vitamin/mineral depletion but I had lapband (not malabsorptive) and I still lost hair. So that's a bit of my limited knowledge...
