Well, I went to DR. Kuwada and saw Jodi the nutritionist this past week for my 2 month ck-up. I'm down 53 lbs. YEA!!!!! 32  lbs to go. He was please on my weight loss. I can start trying some solid food, a little at a time.  So, I tried some Spanish Rice last night. Everything went OK til today. I had the worse case of the scoots. Has this happen to anyone else?  My system is saying, What the **** was that?  Any advise on what to try that this won't happen again. or it's a hit and miss proccess. Reenie

Hi Reenie -

Congratulations on your fantastic success! Wow! I think I was about 3 months out before I got that far. You are doing a great job.

Re: the rice. It's hard to say. While you are starting on solids, you still need "lead" with protien. I'm not sure if your rice had fat in it or not, but it sounds like you had a version of 'dumping' which can cause diahrea which could be due to either too much fat or carbs. Wait a bit before trying the rice again and try just a little bit when you do and see if it goes better next time.

Again, congratulations on such a fabulous outcome!

Hey Barb, My spanish rice had 98% ground round beef, a can of stewed tomatoes, some rice and onions in it. That's it. very low in carbs, and fat.

Reenie07,

I had surgery on 1/10/08.  I have lost about 30 lbs.  How did you lose that much weight so far? What are you doing?  I have totally stopped losing.  Tell me your secret.

How much exercise are you doing?

How much water are you drinking.

Reenie -

Please don't hear me scolding or making judgements about what you had. Even though the items were low in fat and carbs, relatively speaking; they may have had too much for your pouch at this time and place. If you try the same thing a few weeks from now, you may very well have a very different experience. Unfortunately, this does take trial and error and what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another.

Hang in there, it will get better with time.

Your OK Barb, Your our mother here and mom always knows best.  I really want your advice. I just thought when they say start trying solid food that means what you had in the past  before WLS to see if it agrees. I was wrong to assume that. I should of know better.  Reenie

Hopy Cow, Reenie!!!  You are a KILLER!!!  Congratulations! Easy does it on adding new foods and you will be ok.  You can't do the switch 100% all at once.  Baby steps...
