Well this coming week is a week of decisions

Well. I am very excited but a little scared.  I thought I would share here since I think it would be better understood here.  I have done all my pre-op.  I have researched two doctors and have done everything both doctors need/want done prior to submitting to the insurance company.  I did have a first consult with one doctor but wanted to talk to two before I made my final decision on who I am going to use.  I decided paying a "program fee" or an "upfront fee" for two places is well worth it since I am making a long term relationship commitment.  So this week I have my second consult with the first doctor and the First consult with the second doctor.  I was so unimpressed with the first doctors staff that I couldn't "commit" myself to them.  I was so upset on how the staff treated me that I couldn't focus on if I clicked with the doctor or not.  So.  That is why I have to be fair to him decided to go back for a second consult.  It wasn't his fault.  I did tell my primary care about it and she made me promise I would go in and discuss it with him.  She herself called and told him.  So.  I plan on going to both appointments and then making my decision.  So.  I guess at the end of this week I will commited to a doctor and on my path.  I have already decided that Roux-en-Y is the surgery for me.  I know my insurance covers the procedures.  I know that both doctors I have picked have a good reputation.  So, I am going into both appoinments with an open mind and I know that I will know by the end of the second appointment who I will continue with.  Thanks for letting me share.  My friends don't understand why I would have be consulting with two doctors, but then again they don't understand that this is a life change and a long term commitment.  So by Thursday I will know more.  Thanks for listening!

First, I'd like to welcome you to the NC Forum. I'm delighted that you are here and are sharing your journey with us. We will all learn from one another.

Your approach to this lifechanging procedure and the process surrounding it says volumes about your likely long-term success in your journey. As you are well aware, this is not a one time, in and out procedure, but a long-term commitment you are making to yourself and with the staff of physician you choose. While the administration of the office can smooth or ruffle the path for you, it's the clinical group that is so important. It sounds to me like you are doing a great job of recognizing and separating out the two to ensure that you get the best fit for yourself. KUDOS!!!

I look forward to hearing more of your decision making process.

Wishing you every success in your journey to a healthier you.

Barbara

Hey Ready.... I am only 11 days post op and this group of wonderful ppl has been phenomenal.   No way can or do family and friends understand what we are going through or why.  They haven't been there and a lot of them have never struggled with obesity.   I haven't been here long but have never met such a group of loving and caring people. Welcome to the fold!! Take care, Pam
