Mini Wow ... Perceptions
A friend I haven't seen since before Christmas stopped by earlier this morning. While she was here she said, "My goodness, you look like you've lost a lot of weight." This is someone who didn't know me before WLS, so she didn't know I had it. My response was "Really?! Well, maybe 10 or 12 lbs." She said, 10 or 12 lbs! That's huge. Mind you, she's a 'normal sized, small person.' But it started me thinking, that we deal with such big weight loss numbers that lately, I've been kind of discounting the progress that I've made over the past couple of months. Apparently, enough that it's visible to the casual observer. I still look at photos of me taken in October, December and the latest ones in Feb and I don't see much difference. I guess it will take a while for it to all settle and for my perceptions of me to match what others tell me that they see.
I enjoyed her reaction and it made my day.
