WOW -- My First Post-Band Night Out with the Girls

Once every three months, I go out for dinner with a small group of friends.  We pick a trendy spot that we never go to and can rarely afford!  We hit every course there is on the menu over the evening. Last night was my first post-Band night out.  I haven't even had my first fill yet, so I was pretty nervous!     But things went great.  I rarely drink alcohol anyway, so skipping the ****tails and wine wasn't a problem.   I ordered well, ate mindfully, and really enjoyed the food (not to mention the fabulous company!).   No issues about remembering that I had to take it easy with each course so I'd be able to enjoy the entire evening.  I felt comfortable and satisfied after only a few bites of each course.  I even ordered a dessert, had a couple bites, and passed it along down the table. It felt so normal.  I can hardly remember a time when my desire for food didn't smack me around at a table filled with luscious offerings.  What a treat to feel so in control of my appetite and just be able to enjoy the fantastic evening. When I got home, I entered everything into my food journal at www.mydailyplate.com (thank you, Barb!) and found that I was still a smidge under my targeted calorie count for the day. Wow. I remember hearing so many times, "The Lap Band isn't a cure for obesity; it's just a tool you can use to fight it."   I've been so scared that I wouldn't use it correctly and that I would mess things up.  But last night gave me a lot more confidence that I can be a talented Bandit and use this tool to achieve some of my goals.

Hi Kim: Sounds like you did a fantastic job making the right choices and working that band like you are supposed to!  Sounds like if you keep that mentality then you will do great! Lisa
