I am 6 weeks out from surgery and I have stalled with my weight loss.  I have lost about 33lbs but have stayed at the same wieight now for almost a week.  Is this normal?

What can I do to help move this along?

Hi Barbara I think it's pretty normal.  I'm 8 weeks post-op and I usually stall for about 4-5 days then lose 2-3 lbs then stall again.  Hang in there... 33lbs is awesome. Christy

I lost a retarded amount of weight my first month, then stalled for 2 weeks, then lost 2 lbs, then gained them back and bloated into a balloon for a week. I just lost those two lbs again today. It's normal :) BTW I lost 14 inches during the stall - have you measured?

Lexi -  Size 6-8 and holding.

I just measured tonight and I have lost inches.  I have been working out and wondered if  I was retaining because of muscle.

How awesome -- 33 pounds gone before surgery!  It's a big head start, no?   As everyone else has pointed out, periodic stalls are normal.  Our bodies have a lot of catching up to do when we're changing shape, and actual poundage lost is just part of it.  There are also "stalls" dependent on women's monthly cycles because of water retention.   Someone else had pointed out in another thread that a good way to shoot past a stall is to do a change-up on activity and diet -- try some speed work in your exercise (1 minute of incredibly intense activity, then a few minutes of slowed activity until your heartbeat's back to normal, then another minute of intensity, etc.); make some changes to the food staples you're relying on, etc. You've done a great job so far and you can trust that the trend will persist!
