Ok I have the packet of info from the nutr. and at one point it says only lacto free milk and then it says skim milk. I am moving to full liquids tomorrow (might i let out a YAY)Is milk gonna make me sick or not. I love skim milk anyways. I have been drinking it for the last 20 yrs(thanks mom) but I just wondered what your expeirences with milk have been. Also I have this gurgling noise in my abdomen about 3 - 4hrs after eating ....am i hungry? Is it empty? Anyone have any ideas?

Your new pouch will make all kinds of noises (at least mine does).  I drink milk and have had no problems.  It has lots of protein and it's good for our bones, so try a little at a time and enjoy! Congrats on your progress!  Isn't it fun?  Alice

I became lactose-intolerant after my surgery.. and only recently have been able to have regular milk again. So try a little at a time.  And if you need it, go for the lactaid.

Some folks will become lactose intolerant, but most won't. The lactose is a sugar, so your surgeon is suggesting that you try one that has a lower natural sugar base than regular milk. I haven't had any trouble with milk. You can try a bit and see what happens.

Wishing you continued success,

Barb

I have been drinking 1% milk and haven't had any problems.   I am 8 days post and have had alot of commotion in my stomach but no pain and no reason i could figure out.  Can't wait for my doc appt Friday as he says if all is well i can start on soft.    I am not hungry but miss biting into something. good luck, Pam

Funny thing Milk. I HATED Milk before surgery. The only way I'd touch milk was on my cereal and even then as little as possible.  I wasn't lactose intolerant, I just hated it.  I swear, now, my mouth starts foaming when I think about a glass of milk. It is like I can't get enough.  I use 1%, so I'm not buying 2 gallons - one for me and one for family.  I'm 6 months out and have never had a problem with milk after surgery.  Really enjoying the occasionally Hood Carb Countdown Chocolate Milk too!!!!

I have always been able to drink milk.  I started with skim and then moved back up to 2%.  :)  I don't drink it often, but it will settle my tummy down if it gets rowdy.  :)
