Okay - I hope I haven't done anything the rest of you haven't. I've been following my doctor's orders so far. I am a bit over 2 weeks out. He gave me the green light to try a few soft/pureed food items. I cooked a glorious piece of cod last night thinking - soft, white, flaky, should be gentle on my pouch, right? Negative!      I chewed & chewed, and when I thought I chewed enough, I chewed some more. Stuck! Pain in my chest. Mouth all watery. Way uncomfortable so I had to "self-induce." (You know what I mean.) Came up, thankfully. It happened when I tried an egg too. Whaaaah!      When does this stop? Does it stop? What caused it? Is it too soon? Will I be able to eat fish and eggies ever again? (sorry) I made some turkey & white bean chili, pureed it, and that goes down beautifully. So much to learn with this new tummy.  Teach me!! LOL Thanks, xoxo Mare

Hi Mare, Your pouch is your teacher always listen to it. I remember canned chicken getting stuck OMG it was a hell of a ride and yes I will step up to the plate and say what ever is not right is coming out. Scrambled eggs that was a bad experince too in fact have not done scrambled eggs since late August. When the  discomfort for many foods stops I found it to be when you are 5-6 months out. You can still enjoy many foods just go easy GF. You also might want to join the other soup queens here.Soup does really well for me.                                                  Annie

It is never too late to be what you might have been.?

I'm thinking two weeks out is still a bit too early for soft foods. Be sure they are pureed soupy/like foods and you should be ok. Try mashed potatoes with some gravy for flavor. In a week or so you *should* be able to take the really soft fish, but just give it some time... It will get better. You will learn what "clogs" and what doesn't, I PROMISE!!!!! :)

Yes! I've been adding crabmeat to my creamy potato soup. Not bad & loaded with protein! (I added powdered milk to my skim milk too for xtra protein.) I'm a work in progress. *sigh*

Mare... Been there done it... only with crab legs, they were the first meat I tried, I chewed chewed & chewed... I only ate a few bites but --- I got so sick I thought I would die, still to this day I can not eat crab ...  My nutritionst said take it slow, what did not work this week may work next... I started on cottage cheese and it settled fine, eggs NO WAY ,,, once you can start soild food  you should find we can eat almost any foods, just slow and small amount. Good Luck

Yes, thankfully I LOVE cottage cheese...even FF isn't bad. I've just gotta slow down and not try to rush the process.  Thanks

Someone else already said this, but let your pouch guide you and be your teacher. We all have had different experiences with food and your experience may be different as well. Don't think, "I'll never be able to eat that again" Think "Ok, not ready for that one yet".

For me, I was able to eat soft foods at 2 weeks out without any problems. In fact I have not ONCE thrown up since my surgery. I have a tough pouch I guess! :)

At that stage I was still blending..  I would have starved to death if it were not for mashed potatoes and soup.  Annie is right.. listen to your pouch. I cannot eat eggs much either.. even now.  Loved them before.  Pureed chili always did well for me.  It will get better..  There are things you cannot eat now that you will in a few months.  Trust me.  :)
