Dumping ??? Not good!
I have been really careful what I ate and how I ate. I figured of all people I would be the one with the dumping problem. NOPE - until today. At lunch I ate a T-bone strak salad, just a salad with extra rare cute up steak. No dressing - about 5 minutes after I finished lunch the severe pains in the little pouch started and it was horrendous. I went to the restroom and all I could do was slobber like a bulldog that just licked a frog. The grinding and pain in the pouch was almost unbearable. The extra rare meat made for for blood colored stuff that didn't stay down. So, I started walking to help relieve the pain. Finally after 15 + minutes in the ladies room I felt a bit better.
Was this dumping?? If so - I don't like it. I must have eaten too fast because I don't believe that I ate too much.
Sorry for long post - but this reallyfreaked me. Is it over or will there be more things happen as the afternoon goes on?
Thanks,
Dianne

Nope, that isn't dumping. You got something, probably a piece of steak, stuck at the entrance to your stomach. It won't stop until you either throw it back up, or it manages to find a way through. We call the slobbering you talk about the "foamies". Most of us have had this experience once or twice, it usually comes from not chewing something stringy, like meat, thoroughly enough.
You can consider carrying around some papaya enzyme in your purse. Some say that it helps digestion, particularly meat, and if it gets stuck helps alleviate it faster. Personally, and don't flame me for this, when this happened to me I stuck my finger down my throat and forced a vomit. I wouldn't recommend doing that on a regular basis, but to get something stuck up, you do what you have to do.
The bottom line is, chew slowly and thoroughly, particularly meat.
Take care.
Ellen
Hi Dianne -
Ellen is right, you had a bad case of the foamies and it's over. Be sure to chew, chew, chew ... You may be able to try the rare steak again later, but should probably give a few weeks before trying that again. Meat that is too rare or is overcooked is going to be harder going down.
I'm so sorry that it was hard, but I'll be easier with time.
Hang in there,
Barb
