Doctors are different,,, I had a 2 week liquid diet only - then clear liquids for a couple weeks ... even after that the taters were weeks away , your doctor maybe different you will need to ask him or your nutritionist. good luck and WELCOME to the losers club  :)

My prayers are with ya Mom....  Just had my surgery a week ago and had clear liquids day of surg.  Following day was protein whi*****reased the following day.  Now at about 4 ounces of CIB per hour or so with clear liquids.  As you can see it all depends on your doc and nut.  I have a postop visit on Friday and my doc says if all is well, I can start on soft foods then which is 10 days post op and will be on that until 6 weeks out. The hunger and cravings change after surgery.  My biggest struggle is i want to crunch something.   Tried ice and it just ain't the same.   When my week moments happen i come here and the support is phenomenal! Take care, Pam

I agree taters won't be on your mind after surgery. LOL  They told me Clear liquid for one week then add cream soups no chunks for three weeks. Doc . may allow instant creamy taters after your first visit. Then on to purees Yeahhhhhhhhhh.....My prayers are with you.  You will be just fine. see you on the losers bench.

Unfortunately there is no clear cut answer because each program has it's own protocol. Just be sure to follow the one that your Dr. subscribes to. My liquid diet was 3.5 weeks long! Some are allowed to start eating soft foods right away, so just ask your Dr's office what and when. Call them as often as you need to, that's what they are there for.

Wishing you a safe, uncomplicated procedure and a smooth, gentle recovery.
